I agree that Taylor would be a better LB right now but if he can bulk up and keep his speed then I think we might have a huge steal. With our lack of talant on the D-Line this season I almost hope to see them switch to a 3-4 defense in training camp with the number of LB's that we have on the roster right now. Imagine our defense looking like this.....

DE: Julius Peppers / Tyler Brayton
NT: Damione Lewis
LB: Jon Beason / Dan Connor / Thomas Davis / Landon Johnson
CB: Chris Gamble / Ken Lucas
SS: Chris Harris
FS: Charles Godfrey

I like the looks of that defense but the chances of it happening are highly unlikely.....

That's just the most likely reason, and it makes sense. Still, you could be right--maybe Taylor is a distant cousin of his or he works with Taylor's mom. It's a spirited defense and exciting prognosis of someone who probably wouldn't have been drafted at all had the Panthers not grabbed him in the seventh.

Personally, I think he protests a little too much...

Getting back on subject, am sure once training camp begins, the ol' keep the cards close to the vest, Fox will return.

In case you haven't noticed, I posted twice in this thread, that I believe that all three of our 7th rounders have a pretty good chance to stick...I have yet see anybody arguing that Schwartz and Bernadeau have no chance. Why is that?

Because Bernadeau has a chance at the Practice Squad and Schwartz has a chance to hang on as a third string developmental prospect at guard maybe? I don't hear anyone saying they're going to see the field this year because they're not.

Well of course they're not...our starting O-line is set except for RG, which neither of them are competing for, and there is no substituting on the O-line unless somebody gets hurt. That's not the case on the D-line.

BTW, I've also been "pimpin" Dante Rosario as the starting TE, if that's the term y'all want to use...I guess I'm an Oregon homer too, huh?

I dunno about that, Rosario is a second year player who proved he could perform in games last year.

And yet, people keep pointing out to me that he only caught 6 passes last year, while King caught 47 passes, and therefore Rosario hasn't proven anything. We'll see...obviously, I'm not afraid to go out on a limb if I believe I'm right about something. I also said that Moore was gonna be good, after only seeing him for a couple plays in that first Saints game last year... he hasn't proven me wrong yet.

Of course, I also realize that Taylor could be cut and stashed on the PS smply because of the numbers, but I also know he has good character and that nobody will outwork him, which, combinded with the fact that this defense will be going by a different philosophy up front, gives him a better chance than most 7th rounders. We'll see what happens.

And King only had 1 catch for a 1 yd TD in 06' and he did pretty good last year. I like Rosario speed and playmaking ability, and I like King's good hands. I think we will see a lot of 2 TE sets this year as can also help the running game. As far as Taylor, I don't see him contributing this season but maybe the next or the one after that like McClover. I mean he was drafted in the 7th I don't think anyone in that FO expected him to contribute this year or they would have gotten him earlier.

That is about as likely to happen as me becoming the starting QB. If you look on this forum else where you will find out that any time it is mentioned someone says once again that are personnel is not fit for a 3-4. We have been drafting players for a 4-3 you can't all of the sudden expect them to work in a 3-4. People think that the only difference in a 4-3 and a 3-4 is the amount of DL to LB there are. But the types of DL and LB required for the system are completely different. Think of it like this it's like trying to get a West Coast QB to play in a Spread offense. The skill set required is different.

So monstercat is fighting too hard for it not to be because he's a Tar Heel fan, but you're fighting just as hard against him. Yeah, it's getting clearer now...

I will be very surpised if a 6-4 244 lb kid who runs a 4.5 forty and started 3 years in D-1 does not see the field at all..even as a rookie.

he is a special team dream..on paper

Ehh, it still scares me that Fox is trying to get a 4 man rush at all after last season.

Until our line can prove themselves we need to start utilizing everyone else for the blitz.

It's ten times better when you can do it with just the front 4 though, because you can still play your normal coverage. Hell, they actually blitzed more than a lot of people seem to think last season, and I can remember about 4 TD's they gave up off of those blitzes right off the top of my head.

Don't diss the guy for thinking outside the box. I mean after last season I think something has to change. But your right about JP and Lewis. But it is not the dumbest post I have seen by far, Ive actually made worse and if I was a betting man I bet you have too.
