I know this isn't panther news, but apparently he has to give playing football to go back to the army.

Damn I can only imagine how him and his family feel. Got to wait a whole two years and then try again I guess.

Not really. Four years ago when he enrolled there he knew he would have to serve full active duty upon graduation, they are just making him fulfill his promise of serving after graduation.
Now I still don't think it's right because the rule at the time should allow him continue to play, but if the military says he must serve, then there's really nothing he can do. |

This whole situation may have to do with all the angry parents that sent letters to the army complaining how "back in the day" when their children played college football and didn't have the opportunity like Caleb did. I know there was a story on this on sportscenter sometime after the draft.

I'm not really sure why I should feel sorry for him when we got men and women being sent to Iraq multiple times that didn't get a free education for it.

Army's going to take a black eye for this though, they did let him get drafted and let such a big national deal be made over it. It's not like he was getting out of service, he was supposed to work as a recruiter in his off time, which would have been more advantageous to the Army than him being active, IMO. Oh well, he was a long shot anyway... |

What a bunch of clowns.... instead of this guy making the team and being a recruiter (showing kids they can make the NFL and military if they work at it), they yank the guy..... With decision making like this it is of no amazement to me how the "weapons of mass destruction" theory caught on.

Yeah I know it's just stupid that the Army would let him go into the draft(thinking he wouldn't get drafted) just to give him a good feeling. Then when he actually got drafted...........well you know the story. I wonder did he sign a contract yet, and if he did what would happen? The 500,000 signing bonus is probably a whole lot more than the enlistment! ![]() But referring to what I said earlier, just goes to show that they want every single man they can get. Esp. considering they're willing to take this negative publicity. |

This has nothing to do with the war in Iraq...this has nothing to do with whether the Army can even tell the guy he can/cannot enter the NFL draft. This has everything to do with a guy signing a commitment and living up to that commitment. That's it. End of conversation. Check the political arguments at the door because the Army could give a rat's ass what your opinion is...on anything.
