This is the NFL. and its what have you done for me lately at all times. If teams don't learn that quickly, they lose. And Gamble, Lucas just did not get it done last year. If I don't see improvement, time to shake things up a little and make it open competition. This could make Gamble and Lucas better as well. Just because players get payed more or are drafted higher, they should not be gauranteed the starting position if they are being outplayed. Great example #1: Carr vs. Moore.

I remember reading some of his comments of how he had some trouble learning both corner and nickel last year, but that he was a lot more comfortable. I look for him to make some improvements in consistency. When he is the best than I think he should play. But then the question is who will play nickel?

Where did you get that I would still have David Carr on the roster? Talking out of your ass is not productive to anyone, yourself included... Marshall is a fairly decent CB. He may develop into an extraordinary CB eventually, but has not been able to work his way into the lineup for a reason. He looks outstanding against the number 3 receivers on other teams. Your love for Marshall at any expense is what I don't get. You don't care what's best for the team as long as your guy is the man?... |

Does anyone here seriously think that Fox wouldn't play the team that gave him the best chance to win? Marshall's third on the depth chart because the coaches think that the nickel is where he will make the best contribution to the team. If he was better than Lucas or Gamble, they would start him. If he gets better this year, then he'll earn the starting job.
The best defense is the one that never has to be used. Maybe one reason Marshall has more passes defensed than either of our starters is because opposing QBs tend to pick on him more often than they do Gamble or Lucas. I don't know myself, but I bet that Tim Lewis knows exactly who gives up what, how often they're tested, who they're the most effective against, and how they do against the other teams' first, second, and third receivers. I bet he's shared that with Fox too, and that's why we see the lineup we do.

This isn't HS, who starts and doesn't at positions like RB and CB are really irrelevant to me because more players than the starters will get PT and plenty of it. 3 WRs is becoming more of the norm now, as is RB tandems.
But this is like arguing with a brick wall, so I'll just move on.

Actually, you can gradually chip away at a brick wall...

You can chip away at a brick wall by just arguing with it?
![]() Me don't think so. ![]() ![]() For some reason, Marshall reminds me of Ricky Manning, at least, a better version of him anyways.

haha. do you even read what you quote? all I suggested was make it open competition, I don't have any more love for Marshall than I do for Gamble or Lucas, I just want to win. That was my point, don't ride Gamble just because he was our #1 pick. Sort of like Carr getting the contract we gave him because he was a former #1 overall pick. We are still paying for that mistake! |

You need a little more than that if you're going to ridicule, that was some weak shit. I'm not riding anybody, I want what's best for the team and right now, that means Marshall is the nickel, period, end of discussion, cannot be denied. You don't care about that and want Marshall to be the starter whether it helps or hurts the team, doesn't matter to you, I get it, doesn't make sense but I get it... |

Start him if Gamble or Lucas gets hurt... or if he plays better than him. He's shown that he can make some great plays, but also is a bonehead sometimes and doesn't time hits well enough/can get beat deep and have to PI so the other team doesn't TD.
Who cares anyways? He'll see plenty of time in the nickel and on ST. This thread is kinda stoopid. The only thing perpetuating the thread is Mintal and dk arguing about who has the bigger dick. |

not trying to ridicule. Just wondering if you actually read my quote? I want whats best for the team too.... And if that means let Marshall compete for the starting job so be it. I never mentioned anything about handing Marshall the starting job, only competing for it. Ive stated that 3 or 4 times now, is it clear enough for you? |
