Question to heels fans: Do you think this is just family related or is he unhappy with playing time? Would he still be leaving if Hans were in the draft?

It was rumored back in Feb. that he would be transferring after this year due to his Father's illness. I wish him and his Father the best.
I don't believe his playing time would have dropped if anything probably got more minutes, cause I think he was playing better than Thompson anyway.
Stephenson played hard and kept his mouth shut, good kid wish him well.

Yea I agree his father being ill is the reason for him leaving, because he was getting more and more PT when his confidence started showing. It sucks to see him go I thought he was going to be a great player next year. But I wish him and his fam the best.

Im not a carolina fan and Im not doubting the severity of his fathers illness (best to him) but with Ed Davis, Tyler Zeller, Deon Thompson, and obviously Hansborough dominating the majority of the playing time I think he saw things closing in on him a bit as far as playing time. He probably feels like he can contribute more than just 5 mins a game...

There were rumors last season he was headed back to Cali, because of his lack of playing time, but Williams talked him into staying with Wright leaving for the NBA. I think his father's health issues were a big reason for him leaving, but I doubt that was the only reason like Unicar has said. I think with Davis and Zeller coming in and his play so far at Carolina he would have went from a 2nd string to 3rd string player. Best of luck to him, and well wishes for his father. I actually liked Stephenson over Thompson, but his offensive potential never developed.
