Default How will Dook guard next year?

They lose their best perimeter defender and have no defensive presence inside. Do the resident dookies see some problems? Also keep in mind the 3 point line moves back, so this will affect their offense as well.

And, FTR, I think Wake Forest is going to be a friggin beast next year. They are going to have a backcourt that rivals the Heels in terms of speed and they will be big inside as well.

Duke will win the ACC. People are writing off Zoubek as not being that big of a difference maker. Him being healthy the whole season is going to help them substantially. Carolina's depth is almost too deep. They aren't going to be able find minutes for Davis, Zeller, Thompson, and Hansbrough while at the same time keeping a mesh. Duke has the perfect amount of depth with three really quality PGs, a great overall perimeter shooting team, and probably the best team defense in the nation.

K won't play more than 7 players.

The Heels will play a butt-load!

I'm not sure your assessment is on point.

Wake has a high quality recruiting class coming in this year. Three of the highest rated frontcourt players in the country. Add that to last years improving team, and it should add up to a good year.

But we will have one fatal flaw that will keep us from being in a position to challenge the Heels. Ft shooting from our pg. Ish played well, but 34% from the line is a real problem.

Also, three point shooting outside of Teague isn't great. But might get better.

Yes Demarcus was a great defender, but your question makes it sound like you didn't watch one Duke game last year. By only loosing Nelson and gaining two more players (athletic players at that)in the post, Duke has gone from a program that always defends well to a team that will have problems this year? No.

The three point line will only hurt mid majors for the most part. Yes, it stretches out the Duke perimeter defense, but the same can be said for the offensive side of the ball. With teams having to guard farther out on Duke, because they can shoot the three, it opens up for penetration from Gerald or Jon or E-Will or Nolan, hell even Singler when he pops out. Paulus will just continue to stretch his range out like he did last year.

And yes I think Wake will be good this year.

How will Duke defend next year? Is this a joke thread? We lose one defender and we are no longer one of the best defensive teams? Three point line? Have you seen us shoot threes? We shoot from half court and beyond.

And the pointless thread of the day goes too..............Htar!! Congratulations!!!!! You won again!! Keep up the great work htar.

Anyone who thinks that losing Demarcus Nelson will hurt Duke that much hasn't paid attention. While he was a good defender and occasionally a good scorer, he was TERRIBLE in the clutch and couldn't hit a free throw at an important moment to save his life.

He was a decent player, but frankly, I'm happy that someone else will be taking his place in the starting lineup.

The only player on Duke that MIGHT be affected by the three point line moving is Greg Paulus. All of the other shooters were routinely behind the new three point line anyway.

I agree about his offense, but his defense was solid and will be missed.

Losing a perimeter defender will not really effect team defense. This thread is stupid, and is just Htar trying to stir something up...imagine that.

I always thought Nelson played good hard defense and gave everything he had every night. He did lose his touch late last year, and his shooting deficiency correlated with Dukes early exit.
But I thought he always carried himself with class and never gave the Duke fans any reason to be "HAPPY" he's gone.. Too bad he didn't wear a lighter shade of blue

Oh, I had no problems as a person. I liked the guy, and many times he played quite well. Jeff Capel is the only Duke player that I can ever recall being extremely happy about them leaving. Demarcus Nelson was just one of those guys that annoyed me a lot more than he made me think he was a great player.

That would be McBob for me. I root for him in the NBA, and hopefully he gets a good shot with the Pacers, but he had a miserable attitude at Duke.
