people are NOT happy about this in Knoxville. it was a hire made to save a single freaking recruiting class...how dumb is that??!! also, it was a hire made to keep the salary right at what we were paying Fulmer.
Lane Kiffin equals Barack Obama He's young, decent-looking, and represents change (that's why people like him). He has VERY little experience. Kiffin didn't even call the plays when he was co-offensive coordinator at USC. He has a questionable history with some crazy people (Al Davis). It's just that everyone now is assuming things won't be the same at UT. Nobody really has any idea what kind of "change" he'll bring about. He's coming in and shaking up a long history of tradition (keeping HC hires in the UT family), while still he hasn't proven himself to be a solid candidate yet. Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling for the guy...I was just really really hoping for Brian Kelly. Kiffin is supposed to be at the UT/Kentucky game today. Maybe I'll find him and invite him to my tailgate party. He is old enough to drink...right?? |

UT has had an ugly ending to every "in the family" coach they have hired. Fulmer lasted a long time, but people have been calling for his head for a long time.
Yup....obviously they wanted a recruiter.....fast.......got a lot of competition in the SEC. Kiffin's high profile, youth, USC and pro experience might make him attractive to young recruits. He will need good coordinators. He should be able to bring in some talent. UT wanted a big name....prolly the best they could get. Prolly had their eye on him all along....that's why they announced the Fulmer firing so early...other schools were getting the jump. |

Kiffin is a good hire IMO. Not a great hire, but he'll do well there.

My wife sprung out of bed and said "No, Gabriel! Leave!" And I said 'No, honey, shut your mouth! Shut your mouth and you let him watch. Let him watch what is being consecrated here.' And I want the people to watch what is going to be consecrated here. And I will bring my son down here, and he will watch." |

A lot of people are speculating that Monte could be coming with Lane. That would be amazing! I'd love to see the Tampa 2 in the SEC. I think Eric Berry would seriously be a heisman candidate in that system.
