I've dislocated my kneecap 3 times even after doing heavy training, it kept me out of track usually but i could do cross country

the last time it happened was in a game of pick up football, not even organized or anything

Remember back when a simple "pickup game" didn't require recovery time afterward?

Well if you mix beer in there somebody's going home maimed.

Don't you hate it when you hit your knee on the corner of an end table, worst pain ever, 10x worse stubbing your toe, i litterally have to sit down and rub for a good 5 mins, it just goes stiff and i can't move

Both shoulders dislocated.Going to have to get the left one cleaned out sometime. All of my joints perform a symphony of snaps and pops if I'm still for any period of time. It sucks getting old.

Now that I'm in my forties, my body is having its revenge

I had my share of injuries (hairline fracture to my hand, busted bones in my foot, pulled muscle in my back, etc) over my sporting life. Nothing too bad, but they do come back to haunt me occasionally.

My right knee is the most frequent complainant. It aches a lot and I can't kneel on it at all without feeling a lot of pain. My guess is what caused the damage there is all the time I spent running the steps for track practice. Not that bad on the overall scale, mind you; just "unpleasant"

So who else in here has lingering issues from their "glory days" and what was it that caused them?
I have some sort of pain in my legs every day -- hamstring, calf, Achilles -- you name it. I don't care though, every athlete I know has a little pain here and there. Its part of being old.

I was a pussy while growing up and too scared to play any kind of contact sports other than a little basketball with some other wusses after school occasionally. I did the safe non contact thing and played in the band where I constantly casted my fishing pole in the clarinet section with only marginal success.

I took up running later in life and was older and wiser thus did it the safe way and not go all out being young and stupid. Ran a few marathons but have absolutely no injuries as a result of running today and still do it some and love it.

I played football from age 9 through College. The last 4 years on old school astro-turf.
  • I tore my arch (most painful and to this day bothers me), immobilized for 8 weeks
  • Tore my rotater cuff. surgery required.
  • Tore my left MCL, grade 2+ (immobilzed for 9 weeks).
  • Tore cartiledge in right knee, surgery required.
  • Right ankle sprain so many times it is now perminantly the size of a baseball. I have to wear an ankle stabilizer to play softball.
  • General stiffness in the morning.
  • Bad wrists.
But I still have my sexiness. And the bad wrists might be a result of something else.

Fractured 2 vertebrae and slipped a disc, travelin' on down the pommel horse and my hand slipped. bent the wrong way over the sucker. People told me the crunching sound was barfable. I didn't hear it as the searing pain and inability to move my legs had me somewhat preoccupied.

Had a fat guy roll off a pile on to my left ankle in football.
Snapola. Severe sprain.

Now I have runner's knee, which sucks since nothing burns the calories like a run. Go with the eliptical now but I don't feel like I can bust it like I do when I run.

Aging. 'Tis a bitch, but it is better than the alternative.
