To think back to those days. John was asked who he was listening to and he said that Genesis was one of his tops. It was so for me too. Before the release of Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel, they were a theatrical band. They included music, costumes and performance in everything they wrote. They had it all, check youtube to be sure.

I grew up with Genesis also. That was back when they were really good. Anthony Phillips was another guitar player for them. Hackett and Phillips both put out some pretty good solo albums later. I really wish they would all get back together for a reunion tour before it's too late.

I have to agree with Mush on their earlier stuff (Love Me Do, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, etc...). But once they grew their hair out and reallly started to write music, they were brilliant.

Although I won't argue the importance of the Beatles (or their individual careers) to music history, I've never been a big fan. "Imagine" has always been one of my favorite songs, however.
