i grew up in the 80's. i don't remember anything extra special about him. i know he was on a bad saints team in the 80's. he and swilling were a good lb tandem, and let's not forget mills. but the guy does not deserve the hof. phil simms or richard dent were far more deserving imo.

Was he any better than Sam Mills?

Jackson was a blitzing specialist OLB so his stats look flashier than Mills'.
128 Sacks (+8 unofficial) is almost 10 sacks a season for his career. He also has a sickening amount of FRs. Stats aren't as good as LT but not too dissimilar overall. Clear HoF'er I think.

I just had a saints fan try to aruge with me about this.I think he would have to go in as a saint.but I dont think anybody would argue how much he meant to the panthers

Well I was born in 86 so all I can go on is stats. The stats look good and he was a part of the famed Dome Patrol. I don't know anything about the other guys you mentioned.

Phil Simms was a slightly better Trent Dilfer of his time.
And Ricky Jackson was most definitely a HOFer...and I'm wondering why people aren't talking so much about John Randle. The man was literally unstoppable as a DT in his prime.

mills played his best ball in new orleans, if he were to ever be inducted it would be as a saint. i know he did mean a lot to the panthers and i wish that benson hadn't gotten on bad terms with him.

Won't he actually be enshrined under both NO and Car?
Reggie White is I'm pretty sure (enshrined under two teams that is).
