Funny you should mention jealousy...my longtime favorite Darren Woodson said on NFL Live that he thinks Brett is jealous of the fact he isn't the QB anymore and the team was so close to the SB.

I used to respect him long ago...but after these past 5 or so years I have changed my mind. To me, he is one of the most self centered assholes in the NFL. The media would have nothing to speculate about if he didn't run his mouth. I don't care whether he likes the media or not...he needs to think about how what he says and does affects his TEAM. You know...like QBs are always supposed to do but he never has? That is NOT what being a REAL leader is all about. Why wouldn't he like the media anyway? All they do is blow him 24-7-365. He must be the only man on earth who doesn't like oral sex then.

I am not jealous of him though, he doesn't have a thing I want.

For me it was when he told the press he was going to make an announcement at the golf tourny last year and when they showed up expecting something he acted surprised, like "what are you doing here? I'm just here to play some golf."

At that point I said to myself, "I've dated the female version of you too many times to not know what's going on right now."

That analogy would hold water if an employee could hold their employer hostage as much as Favre has done with Green Bay in recent years.

Maybe Favre is confused.

Maybe the the inch is in his pants. The doctor can get him that special shampoo and he can buy one of thoes little combs for that. It might just clear it right up.

Here's my take:

Favre wanted to come back. He gets in touch with the Packers, but the Packers didn't want he back, and they didn't to cut him to allow him to play for another team. So the Packers say "Sure Brett, come on back. You will be the backup to Rogers."

Brett thinks, damn, that will be embarrassing. I'll just tell everyone the rumors are false.

Hostage?

The team has never been held hostage by Farve...but I understand a lot of people like to think that they have been.

Hostage in the sense that the team has to be loyal to whatever he wants to do since the fans in Wisconsin idolize him so much. I'm sure if they thought Favre was returning they wouldn't have drafted 2 quarterbacks, one in the 2nd round.

Regardless, he knew Al Harris was going on TV to talk about this because Darren Woodson (quickly) mentioned how Brett texted Harris before the show.

So I have to assume, by pretty strong statements, that he is thinking of coming back. How strong that feeling is, who knows. But it IS strong ENOUGH to cause enough drama in the media, which (even at the least) causes more pressure for Rodgers.

If he was thinking about the team, he'd leave it alone. Instead, he has retired and then created controversy by saying he (may, possibly) still want to play.

Regardless of why... It's not a great move by Favre. Regardless of how much it really is "controversy", he is still disturbing. Regardless of to what extent, he is messing up the harmony in the team.

He can come back. By all means they would be better. But don't say you are retiring, let the team rally behind another QB, and then mess up that continuity by saying you may still want to play.

Unless, you want released. (which is a whole other issue)

(I saw the NFL Live with Al Harris then Brett wants to go on to say there is no truth to the rumors. PUHLEEEEZE!) I love the fact that most of this stuff comes from his agent. And remind me again...who does the agent WORK FOR??? Oh yeah...he WORKS FOR BRETT!

The problem is that the fans own the team so if the fans want Brett that's the same as the owners wanting Brett because they are, indeed, the owners. So Brett is putting those who are hired to run the team for the owners/fans in a very precarious position.

On ESPN they said they did a poll on those wanting Brett to come back. Nationwide, 60% of football fans do NOT want him back. However 40% do want him back and all those 40% are comprised of Green Bay fans living in the Wisconsin, Illinois area.
