Charlotte, NC (April 9, 2009) – The Carolina Thunder Drum Line is gearing up to entertain fans of all ages during 2009 and is seeking talented percussionists to audition for the drum line. The unique, high-energy group made its performing debut by appearing at the Carolina Panthers “Panthers Lair” fan zone adjacent to Bank of America Stadium during selected Panthers home games in 2008, as well as performing at a variety of game day tailgating activities. The Carolina Thunder is planning to perform again in this capacity during the 2009 season.
“Our goal is to add excitement and energy when we perform. We especially enjoy contributing to the game day atmosphere and over all fan experience during Carolina Panthers home games." says Ensemble Director Greg Dearman. "It is a lot of fun for us, because we are all Panther fans too."
The 2009 ensemble membership will include performers ages 18 and older and will hold regularly scheduled rehearsals throughout the summer in preparation for the fall football season. Typically, ensemble members come from a variety of backgrounds including former marching band and drum corps members, teachers, small business owners and various other professions. "We are most interested in recruiting talented percussionists who can perform in front of large audiences with precision, accuracy, and enthusiasm," says Program Coordinator Greg Shull. "The ensemble delivers high quality performances to audiences of all ages to ensure every person receives a world-class entertainment experience.
Auditions will be held on May 2 from 9am until 4pm in the South Pointe High School band room (801 Neely Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina). For more information please visit
