an ill azz Beat or some dope Lyrics?












I vote for Lyrics, because you seriously don't even need a beat.. some of the illest verses ever spit were accapella..

Beats are important, true.. even with terrible lyrics, a song can sell millions because of a insane beat (the state of Hip Hop right now).. but since rappers arent saying anything real on a track, i'd rather just listen to the instrumental..

lyrics from old school are alot better

beats are pretty good these days but the lyrics are just terrible, southern gangsta rap is just shameful, don't even get me started


theres good stuff these days, its just alot harder to find now, im holed up until this gangsta rap ends, which won't stop until the pockets are full, and im thinking they don't think their pockets are full enough yet

When listening to Hip-hop it's all about the skill, message, and feel.. When listening to "rap", it's all about the beat.

Equal. You aint selling a f*cking record (soundscan) with no beat - regardless of how good your lyrics are. And believe it or not there is actually some talent involved in "dumbing down" your lyrics so the masses accept you.

looks like your excluding rappers because they also have "commercial" hits that get played out on the radio, and naming some rappers becuase they never get any radio play...Jay-z is the biggest name i see missing their because of this. some of these rappers i could name several more that should have been much higher on your list imo

what im looking for is lyrics that combine intelligence, with a lil slang that stays true to the rhyming capability..you know the stuff you hear and it makes you say who the hell thinks of that, or analogies that just blow your mind but make perfect sense.

and finally combining a great beat with nice lyrics is truely harmony.

as far as beats go, save that for the radio,clubs and parties

as a side note because of the sucess of hip-hop waayyyyyyy too much garbage has somehow made it to radio airwaves and clubs, but some people love it.. that type of music tho holds rap back from its potential to win people over

The song from this young man (T-ONE) is inspired by the way our economy is going based on government spending, population spending etc. This was his first attempt at radio playable music. He found it to be hard to do and make the point. Previous rap songs are not radio playable and he has not been able to find the site to submit to xm or sirius stations.

I listen to the sirius and they have a call in where you give a 30 sec sample over the phone and he might play you but that's just kind of for whatevers and giggles, but it might be kind of fun
