I voted the third just to be an ass.

But sure, it might be. It has loads of potential.

I picked the 3rd option as well, but if I were serious I would say no way, Godfather II will always be the best sequel ever.....now if they make a third Batman, that may have potential to being one of the best trilogies of all time with Star Wars and LOTR

D2 is probably the greatest. "the goalie!!"

Dark Knight a close fourth behind...

2. Empire
3. Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantamano Bay (A former child star was gunned down by a hooker in it)

Terminator 2 is cemented as the greatest sequel ever.

TDK won't touch that.

T2 is good. But The Godfather pt.2 also won best picture. And then there is TESB.
and ST: Wrath of Khan and the LOTR sequels. TDK has alot of good competion.

Spidey 2 is still my favorite Superhero movie of all time.

Empire Strikes back is one of the top 5 movies of all time.

LOTR 2 is, far and away my favorite of the three & one of my all time faves.

So this one has to be absolutely amazing to make my list.

Wow...how do I respond?
Will begin with the original question. If you don't allow yourself to get into all the marketing hype (which there is too much of) for this movie, yes, it has the potential. I can't think of any other movie that I've been looking forward to the next one of, as much as this one.

Yall list some good movies, but can't agree with you as better sequels, specially when the movie in question isn't even out yet. Seems complete bias.

Other than the Godfather 2, I don't think any of those are fantastic movies. Then again, I hate Star Trek, and think that Star Wars and LOTR were both massively overrated.

Of note though; Godfather 2, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Two Towers aren't technically sequels. They are each the second piece of a planned trilogy.
