Dogs or Cats... -

I have both

DOGS

PROS:the companionship and they are more complex, you have to earn their loyalty and obidience. They are also very protective of your property.

CONS:they need constant attention when they are young to make sure they don't get messed up. They can be difficult to housetrain.

CATS

PROS: they are easy to take care of. They don't need you to be happy and will potty train themselves. It can be relaxing with a cat in your lap.

CONS: they scratch the furniture, they scratch you, they are incredibly needy, and they shed everywhere

yeah i feel that overall dogs are better but i was raised with cats and I've only had a dog for a few years so i can't really say its an uncontested battle for me

Actually I love both but right now I have kitties because I don't have a house/yard for the dog. (I love big dogs...love the little ones too but am partial to the big boys..er, I mean dogs)

Cats not even close. Cats will lay in your lap when your sad and cheer you up. They will always sleep in the same bed. They clean themselves. Mine don't get into the furniture and i'm immune to cat scratching since i've been around cats all my life. I have scars from wrestling with some of my bigger cats
