Shame about the 'Chicks -

I am loading am MP3 for my wife. I am putting Tribute to Tradition, a compilation CD. I recommend it. It has a version of Stand By Your Man by the Dixie Chicks. They were really talented.

Sometimes its more important to be right than popular. They simply were ahead of the curve, and in hindsight, I think that their actions were one of the first that made Americans who otherwise would never question the government really think about the stupid decisions we were allowing them to make.

In any case, thats gotta be worth more than another stupid country song about a guy in a trunk or whatever it is they sing about.

I don't like W. I didn't vote for him either time. I too am embarrassed that he represents my country, but unlike the chicks my job is not based on popularity, so I can say what I want about the prez. The chubby one was stupid for saying, but unAmerican, hell no!

I will defend their right to say whatever they want but you say it on our soil. That's the rub. People say stuff all the time and it does not hurt their careers (much). I still watch Alex Baldwin, Tim Robbin, Johnny Depp and others.

Those guys dont seem to hold the same appeal to the crowd that liked the Chicks. Rock stars and actors appeal to, can I say, a more diverse and open audience in general.
