The QB scoring is borderline lunacy....a QB throws for 250 yards an 2 TDs and only get 13 points?

Am I seeing this right?

There should be more distinction between a good and bad outing.

I'm confused as to what the website currently uses for determining points using last year's stats....but there's only 1 QB in the top 10 (4 in the top 25) while there are 8 RBs (18 in the top 25) and 1 WR (3 in the top 25). The one QB was Brady who played out of his head and the 1 WR, guess who....one of Brady's favorite targets, Randy Moss. Take Brady's amazing year out of the picture and there probably isn't a QB or WR in the top 10.

Duek changed QB passing TDs to 6 points to see how it affected scoring and I guess it moved alot of QBs into the top 10-25, which I guess no one really liked. My argument was that a QB who throws 4 TDs but doesn't have a ton of yards has had a better day than the QB who throws for 1 or 2 and has 250 or more yards.

It is what it is, now I guess...but from what I can tell this is a RB's league.

This year's scoring system is implemented to run last year's stat's.

Players are ranked on the site based on their stats from last year and using the current scoring system.

If you read the whole thread I think you can see why QB td's are value'd at 4 and if you rank players with this scoring system based on last year's stats this is still a QB heavy league.

Also, the reason Duek started this thread in late July was to get discussion going on the board at that time.

I'm going to defer to him and let him be the final judge. I will add that I liked the scoring last year and like the minor changes he made last month.

I don't think making changes to the scoring system in late August would be good for the league, but again, I'll let him make the call.

4 points for TD's is fine....but 1 point per 50 yards. There isnt enough distinction between Tom Brady and Alex Smith.

Tom Brady is ranked 3rd overall and I can't even find Alex Smith in the top 300. How big of a distinction do you want?

In the top twenty there are four QB's, 2 WR's and 14 RB's.

In the top fifty there are 8 QB's, 11 WR's, 27 RB's, 3 defenses and 1 PK. I'd say that's pretty good balance and leaves so many draft strategies wide open.

No you're reading the right scoring. The problem is in assuming Alex Smith is going to throw 50 yards this season much less a TD.

Throwing out the Alex Smith/Tom Brady comparison I see what you're saying about separating the qb's.

But I think the overall balance of the qb's in the league compared to other positions is fairly represented. And if you buy into the "tier system" that is also fairly well represented. jmo.

well, yes. In a way. But the top 2-3 QB's score as well as the top RB's, at least using last year's results. It used to be that fantasy drafts almost exclusively went RB/RB but if you look at the top 24 results from last year one fourth are non-rb's.

I don't think it was an accident that 3 of the top 4 owners last year had Tom Brady as their starter. Still, RB's are the backbone of FF and you don't want to take that away.

But a lot of drafting is split between educated guesses and outright gambles.

Still looks like a rb/rb league to me....with top QBs at 3, 11, 13, 14, 26, 29 & 36 you should be able to get a decent QB in the 3rd rnd unless there's a run on QBs early. There are a ton of good RBs between 36 & 1.

I dunno, I guess I don't see the same balance in a league where the top 25 from last year breakdown as QB (4), RB (18) & WR (3). Maybe 25 is too tight of a selection. It evens out at 50 a little (at least among QBs & WRs but RB is still heavy with twice as many as WRs). Guess that's to be expected since there are only so many starting QBs, but there's at least as many WRs as RBs in the game.

But we all know going in so after last year those returning should be know better how to plan their draft.
