I love you, John Kasay

I can't put it top 3. Let's see, in no particular order...

Armanti Edwards
Everette Brown
Jimmy Clausen
Eric Shelton
DeAngelo Williams contract
Jon Beason contract
Fua/McClain
Dwayne Jarrett
I'll give him a pass on Keary Colbert and Otah as both guys proved early on that they had the talent to be starters in the NFL if they had the want to.

The rest of the NFL saved Hurney from his ultimate fail. Word is that he was trying like hell to trade our next year's 1st rounder to trade up to take Clausen. Just think about it... he tried to trade what would end up being the #1 overall pick for Jimmy fugin Clausen. Just think about the situation we'd be in right now if that would've happened. Absolutely hopeless.

I would take Beasons contract off the list and put Jakes extension on. At the time of Beasons contract he was healthy and the second best ilb in the nfl, no way to know he would get seriously injured.

I agree with Jake's extension.  However, Beason wasn't healthy when he signed that contract.  His ankle was already jacked.

John Kasay was one of the greatest kickers/Panthers of all time and he will be in the ring of honor for sure.

I bet he could still kick better than anyone we have on the roster.

Thanks for everything John

i think he played with the Seahawks before coming to Carolina, it is a business never forget that

I know he did but once you go Saint, you can never detaint :(.

Nice gesture for a kicker that was great for us. Just a shame our existing kicker doesn't have his ability.

Awesome, we should've never let him leave. The 1st dumb thing Rivera did...

I'm happy for John and for the Panthers. Good timing too, John will be the key note speaker at my graduation on Saturday from Wingate

Congrats on graduating!!

One of the more maddening things that Hurney ever did IMO.

Wish him the best, he was one of my favorites.

FWIW, the organization wasn't one giant toolbag when Sam was on the Dome Patrol.

I am a huge John Kasay fan. I loved watching him as a child and he continued to kick well into my adult life. I met him once, very nice guy.

I agree with this. Since about 2000, The Saints organization is the most unprofessional in the NFL.

Thanks John!

The best kicker in NFL history when you look at each 10 yard category and take in the number of attempts from 40+. It was nice to have an automatic 3 just about every time he stepped on the field for 16 years for us. We are sorely missing such a reliable kicker right now. I know I'm missing that.

Forgot about the ankle my bad. I still don't think it was a terrible idea however, could hurney really have known beast was going to blow his achilles?

Given how good he is statistically any thought to him being the what third?? kicker to make the hall of fame?

He should, but the NFL hate the Panthers and they don't give kickers a good chance at making it. And when that chance shows up, they'll heavily favor Morten Andersen and Gary Anderson even though Kasay has superior numbers. They like quantity over quality. Kasay had both.

Beason should've never been on the field in that condition.  He'd just recently had a "minor" surgical procedure on that Achilles.  Hindsight is always 20/20, but it wasn't exactly surprising when he went down and as soon as it happened everyone knew exactly what it was.

Sounds familiar to TD's last time. We have always had a questionable medical staff.

Absolutely.  TD's and Beason's situations were handled abysmally.  Everyone blames Otah for being lazy - and maybe he is - but when you look at the fact his situation was (I presume) handled by the same training staff that botched TD's and Beason's recoveries (as well as possibly Brandon Hogan's), it does make you pause and wonder if things could've turned out differently.  It makes me worry for Kalil.  I honestly hope he's doing most of his rehab elsewhere.  IMO, it probably hurts us lure free agents.  If I was a free agent or an agent advising my client, it's definitely something I would take into consideration.

I still own my Kasay jersey.  I'll probably never wear it again, but I'll never regret the purchase.

Congrats to Kasay who is clearly a class act.

He has been one of the elite and most clutch kickers in NFL history during his time at Carolina. It is unfortunate that no his resume' his legacy resides in the Super Bowl kickoff.

I always hear that Brady woulda drove up the field regardless...but we will never know.

Regardless, Kasay is at a 100-1 good cheer vs WTF and now that he is gone you realize how much he did take care of...kickoffs and butt growth be dammed!!
