Jon Beason restructures

Jul 24 2013 08:42 PM SuperJTheGreat Carolina Panthers
Panthers WLB Jon Beason restructured his contract Wednesday. Beason, 28, was scheduled to earn a $5.25 million base salary this season. Considered a potential cap casualty early in the offseason process, the injury-prone linebacker kept his spot simply because there's too much money left on his six-year, $51.338 million deal. Beason, MLB Luke Kuechly, and SLB Thomas Davis comprise one of the best-looking linebacker groups in the league on paper, but Beason has appeared in just five games over the last two seasons.

Hope they bring in the O-line help most have been clamoring for... And sign Quentin to put us all at ease...

Doubtful

I seriously doubt CJ is THAT greedy. Kalil, J-Stew, D-Will, and now Beast have all restructured.
I'm hoping this makes room for a certain safety we've all been slobbering over.

Good to see JP is Johnny on the spot, as usual.

Imagine Moore and mikell, hoping for oline help mostly though

Excellent news on the eve of training camp.

whenever I see, player x restructures, before I get excited like the rest of you the first thought that pops in my mind is "I wonder what the details are?" players almost never restructure for free, must be some sort of a incentive for him to do that.

remember the NFL is a business, and there isnt a move made one way or the other that isnt all about the money.

Restructure does not = paycut
He's just doing his part Doc... Like DWill, Stew, Kalil & Olsen before him... Team player, playa...

Restructure does not = paycut

This.

Restructure does not = paycut

thats what I said, in just far less words

Restructure does not = paycut

No, but it usually does equal "lower cap hit", at least in the short term.

lets wait for the details

Either way, I doubt it is something that hurts the team......

How the he!! does a guy in Boston get this first?

*waiting for Juses Crust to weigh in on the Beason contract restructure*

Even if it's not a paycut, by shuffling money around our front office can sign some talent for depth.

Godfrey should join in too. He's getting paid too much for an average safety.

and you're naive, I've been following the NFL too long to think he just did it for the team.

it's something nice for fans to think but the reality of the situation is Beason just got something he wanted from the team, in order for them to get what they wanted from him.

especially considering contractually speaking he had near 0 incentive to do anything this year at all, the panthers couldnt cut him.

its about damn time (lebron james voice)

you don't know either. so don't judge so quickly.

Beason is the man! Now sign RG, RT, and FS help and I'll have a good feeling about making the playoffs at the very least.

Now that is how a GM operates.
