Wild Card Weekend Predictions

Jan 02 2014 07:54 AM Zod Carolina Panthers
In Indianapolis, Andrew Luck will take care of business against the Chiefs. The Chiefs peaked early, and have lost there luster since. The Chiefs have lost 3 of their last 5. The Colts have won 4 of their last 5.

Colts over Chiefs 34-31

New Orleans heads to Philadelphia where their softness in the elements shows. Outside of their climate controlled dome they are a mediocre team at best. With temperatures in the 20s at kickoff, Chip Kelly's offense will move the ball easily.

Eagles over Saints 30-24

On Sunday, the Chargers take on the Bengals. The Bengals won the last matchup just a few weeks ago in San Diego. I expect the same result Sunday. Dalton and AJ Green combine for two scores as the Bengals defeat the Chargers.

Bengals over Chargers 23-20

Later that afternoon the most interesting game of the weekend will take place. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers play host to San Francisco. The media would love nothing more than for Rodgers to win, but I don't think it will happen. The Niners are a perfect 5-0 over their last five games. It seems every season there is a home playoff loss in the opening round, and this is the one.

Niners over Packers 27-24

I completely agree biscuit... I just keep reading that SF is the only team that can go into Seatlle and win. Wanted to know & knew youd give a non-Homer answer...

This is the playoffs, every team is a contender at this point. I think we can beat anybody, but I this our chances against SF are smaller than vs anybody else...

I've been over at the Hawks forum and like every other team in the playoffs they are worried if the "good team" will show up on game day............

I know you guys don't like the saints but they are a better team than Philly not to mention they've been here before.

Saints over Philly 34-17

San Francisco has won the last two but that was on the west coast. In the Tundra with a healthy Aaron Rodgers give me the Pack.

Packers survive at home over San Francisco 31-27

If this game was played in San Diego I'd give the chargers a chance, but Cincy has been pretty dominate at home lately

Bengals over Chargers 38-17

After Luck's showing in the playoffs last year I'm going to have to go with the Chiefs in this one.

24-10 Chiefs

As much as I want the Saints to lose, your predictions seem along the lines of my thought pattern. Something tells me the Saint will pull out a win if the weather isn't ridiculously cold.

Part of me believe Rodgers will suffer the same fate as Cutler, believing he had something to prove and winning the first game since coming back but faulted after.

I would love for there to be a shocker in the AFC where both the Chiefs and Chargers pull off wins.

Eagles, Packers, Bengals, and Chiefs

The SaintsReport forums will be down for at least a day.

Seems most folks are down on the Saints because they haven't won a road playoff game ever but are picking Cincinnati.  Anyone know what the Bengals playoff record is under Lewis and when was last time Cincinnati won a playoff game?

0-4 under Lewis

Last playoff win- 1991

Saints, 49er's, Chargers, Chiefs

I actually see the Saints blowing out the Eagles. I hope I'm wrong, though.

since zod stickies his own dupe threads here was mine from the other one:

49ers, Saints, Chargers, Colts

Eagles 27 Saints 23. I think it'll be closer and lower scoring than expected.

Colts 27 Chiefs 17. Indy won at KC 2 weeks ago, KC has lost 5 of 7, Indy getting hot at the right time.

Bengals 31 Chargers 17. Bengals 8-0 at home and that D is stifling.

Niners 28 Packers 24. Rodgers makes an impact, but SF plays tough power football that makes em built for cold environments like this. Gore pounds it against the weak GB defense.

Sets up Colts at Broncos (Peyton's revenge), Bengals at Pats (Cincy dominated NE earlier in the year, but this will be at home and Bellichick will have his guys prepared), Niners at Seahawks (epic), and of course Philly in Charlotte (Cam vs Chip haha).

That would be an epic divisional weekend.

I wasn't even thinking about the Bengals so much as I was looking at the Chargers here.

I just have this feeling that the Eagles are going to get the W.  I think this could be a ver high scoring game, something like 41-38, something like that.

I also just have this feeling that playing Philly in Charlotte is our best match up.  They have a lousy defense and their offense can be contained somewhat by our defense.

Other games:

Colts

Bengals

Niners

I think the Colts will beat KC. KC is slipping while the Colts are making a push.

Bengals and Chargers. I think this time the Chargers will win but who knows which teams shows up for these guys.

SF and Green Bay. I think SF will have the better defense and ultimately win in a close one.

Eagles and Saints- Eagles are going to win as New Orleans gets their own medicine and is nickled and dimed to death all day.

I disagree about KC the last two games including the game vs Indy KC had nothing to play for they could not improve there playoff positioning,..

Neither teaam has had great playoff success. I think it will be a close game I think.

And they sat their starting QB and RB and the entire D, and still took SD to OT, again, with nothing to play for

The problem is teams take their foot off the gas and then when they need to rev it back up sometimes they cant.

And they sat their starting QB and RB and the entire D, and still took SD to OT, again, with nothing to play for

they also have lost 5 out of their last 7. If they had played better in December they might have had something to play for.

I understand that, but Indy also has had issues scoring, especially once Wayne went out.  The KC D and whether it can limit Luck will decide the game.

Gore can and will run all over the GB defense. But, SF shuts down the Packer run game.

This is all on Rogers and the passing game. With. -18 degree temp, my money is on the run game.

SF for the win

Not only did KC lose 5 out if the last 7, but they gave up an avg of 28 pts a game during that span.

KC started hot against the likes if the jags, giants, titans, raiders, texans, browns,....

They are smoke and mirrors and will be exposed big time...just like Indy did in week 16

I agree that defense will be a big determining factor.  We know KC has a good one but it comes down to whether Indy rises up and gets better on defense in the playoffs and whether Luck can pull more comebacks out of his butt.

Crazy stat of the day that I heard.....KC had the worst defense in the entire league (yards allowed) in the 2nd half of the season.

There was definitely the tale of 2 halves of the season.

KC HAD a good D for the first half of the season.  They are giving up 28 pts a game for the second half of the season.

Almost the same with scoring....giving up 28 pts a game during that span.

They started out hot against poo teams.  They are NOT a great team.

KC HAD a good D for the first half of the season.  They are giving up 28 pts a game for the second half of the season.

Don't forget they lost two of their best defenders halfway through the season.  They are getting healthy.

I'm taking:

KC over Indy:  KC getting healthy. vet QB and Coach vs. Young QB and Coach.  No Wayne = Colts O struggles.

SD over Cincy:  Rivers vs. Dalton, Chargers on a hot streak (beat both KC and Den at home when playoff seeding was on the line).

SF over GB:  Better overall team talent.  Weather favors running and D, SF great at both.

Philly over NO:  No dome, slower field, Eagles have faster players and a better road D.  However vet QB and Coach for NO make this one a tough call for me.

KC HAD a good D for the first half of the season.  They are giving up 28 pts a game for the second half of the season.

Exactly.  So the question is whether the defense can step up like winning playoff teams do or whether they will continue to struggle.

-Saints are a better team than Philly and I can't get over how easily Dallas moved the ball on them, Brees will outscore Philly, 31-27.

-9ers may be going to a completely different climate, but they love to run the rock and the Packers havn't been able to stop anyone this year. 28-17

-Colts are hot, Chiefs are not. I feel like Luck will make a couple of plays that win this game for Indy, especially at home. 24-21

-As much as I like the Chargers, Bengals are a much different team at home, they win this one because of their D. 27-21
