Offseason programs don’t start until April this year. That’s a change from years past when the programs started in March and a huge change from last year when the lockout prevented all offseason work.

But one significant NFC South player already is back to work. That’s Carolina quarterback Cam Newton.

He recently spent some time working out under the guidance of Chris Weinke, the director of football operations at IMG Football Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Newton’s recent visit was confirmed by an IMG spokesperson, who said the quarterback has said he will be back for more workouts with Weinke soon.

He never quit working. One of the sidenotes left out of his trip to Miami that supposedly included a stop at KoD is that he was also working out with Greg Olsen at the U of M. He's also got some workout videos from three weeks ago floating around.

There are 24 hours in a day, folks, just because Cam was seen somewhere other than a gym or the film room doesn't mean he's been slacking. From everything I've heard he's running at 80% of his in-season preparation since the end of Super Bowl week.

It's funny how such strigent mindset isn't being imposed on any other QB. I wonder why. Especially since there was never anything truthful about his work ethics.

I love Newton as much as the next guy but any successful athlete trains year round. Hell, in High School, there is only about a one month break after the season concludes before you go back to working out.

That's all I was trying to say yet I'm a troll.

Cam is already the best QB the Panthers have ever had, but lets not freak out at every little thing he does.
