Chris Gamble to Retire

Josina Anderson@JosinaAnderson
Agent Carl Poston just told me that Chris Gamble informed him last night that he wants to retire. His full quote is coming next

Rest well sir!

Full quote

Agent Carl Poston to me on Chris Gamble informing him he wants to retire: “A number of teams have expressed interest in Chris Gamble. However, Chris informed me last night that he wants to retire. Even though he still loves football, he told me that he’s decided to focus on life after football. Chris has been a class act. I have represented him for nine years, ever since he came out of Ohio State. He’s been an ideal client and he was one of the best corners in game. He’s doing it the right way. He has taken care of his money and his investments to retire successfully, and now I wish him the best in his future endeavors.” —Carl Poston

Yes we would have saved the entire 11 million cap hit.

No.

Cut = retire. Same as far as cap hit.

This reminds me:

I have some kind of Curse of the Kurbs Jersey.

Got a Proehl, he retired.
Got a Beason, got busted up.
Got a Gamble, got busted up and retired.

No more jerseys...

So do you want me to get you an Armanti or Deangelo jersey?

I can't believe there is even a bit of hate on Gamble. The guy has been a class act since he got here...and never a distraction and for the CB position that says a lot.

Hit it on the head.

Best of luck in retirement Gamble, quietly my favorite Panther...
Just so I understand:

Since Gamble probably knew WE were going to release HIM, he should have retired beforehand and given up on a nice chunk of money to help out the team that was getting rid of him?

By deciding to retire relatively on top and after only playing for us, he's a no-heart, money-obsessed pussy?
Carolina can file with the NFL to get the cap hit back.

How? The signing bonus was paid LONG ago.
Happy B-day Gamble......

Nakamura
Josina Anderson reporting this? where the fug is Joe Person?!....or any Panther reporter? anyway, good for him, that's how you wanna go out.
I think you'll see more and more players making this decision in the "concussion era".
Take the money and get out.

He gave us some good years but as a fan I'm not very happy that he chose to retire after he got cut rather than help out the Panthers.

You guys that keep saying this are funny!

Ignorance is not funny ;)
Great news, very happy for him and glad I never have to see him in another uniform.
Smells like injury concerns to me.

However, I wish him the best of luck post football. He was a very good players, good to fans and a good, but quiet, teammate.

As a fan it sucks, but as a person and former medic it's a very smart move. What good is having a ton of money if you don't have enough working grey matter to use it?

Oh, ignorance can be HILARIOUS.

But ignorance is *never* pretty. :(
For those who think the cap hit would be different google the "Barry Sanders rule"

This!
Definitely a class act. Best wishes on all your future endeavors, Chris. Had a Gamble jersey, glad I never have to see you in another uniform!
Always like it when a guy who has made significant contributions retires after only wearing black & blue... happy retirement Chris!
He'll be back when he runs out of money.
wow. i didn't see this coming. better than signing with an NFCS foe at least.
Wow Hurney caused the man to retire
Best of luck to him. I don't think he would have retired if he knew he was 100% physically and mentally. No shame in what he did though.
See this coming, I did not.
