Gettleman hired as Panthers GM
Jan 09 2013 05:03 PM | carp24000 in Carolina Panthers
CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that Dave Gettleman has been named the team's general manager.
Gettleman comes to Carolina from the New York Giants where he served as the Senior Pro Personnel Analyst last season after working as Director of Pro Personnel the previous 13 years.
"I was very impressed with Dave's experience and think he will be a very good fit for our organization," Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson said. "He has an extensive background in personnel and comes from an organization in the New York Giants that I hold in high regard and played an instrumental role in their success."

However, Pat Yasinskas is still "analyzing".
wow theres some people that have to feel pretty dumb right about now. I wonder what thats like to constantly fug up and feel ashamed about it.
Pat Y has analyzed, however I'm afraid he has analyzed a guy named "Gettelman?" Not sure who he means.

edit: Also referred to as "Gettelaman" once
This is huge
60 IS old. Especially for a guy that has never been a GM before.
Being rumored that Beane won't even be retained at all.
Also, there are folks wanting Arians as HC and he is 60...
Also someone named "Gettelaman".
I thought he did a decent job managing the team with Hurney's release.. What ever is best for the team maybe JUST MAYBE we can steal Ross
Part of me wonders if the buzz that Beane was a serious candidate might have been floated by Beane himself, or via his agent. That could be seen as a reason to drop him.
Edit: CPF96 beat me to it
He'll get his shot eventually.
JR wasn't paying Ernie Accorsi a hefty fee to effin' hire BEANE.
Loved the logic of those that out of one side of their mouth accuse JR of being cheap, but out of the other side think he would hire Ernie Accorsi and pay him a hefty fee to do jack.
Anything is possible.. I tell you one thing if I knew I was last in a race for a job, I'd try my best to get my name out there lol. Yeah JR might have b**ch slapped him and told him to get out "That's not how we do things around here son"
Occam's Razor, indeed.
Amusingly enough, that's the same title Brandon Beane held before being named interim GM.
