Gettleman hired as Panthers GM
Jan 09 2013 05:03 PM | carp24000 in Carolina Panthers
CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that Dave Gettleman has been named the team's general manager.
Gettleman comes to Carolina from the New York Giants where he served as the Senior Pro Personnel Analyst last season after working as Director of Pro Personnel the previous 13 years.
"I was very impressed with Dave's experience and think he will be a very good fit for our organization," Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson said. "He has an extensive background in personnel and comes from an organization in the New York Giants that I hold in high regard and played an instrumental role in their success."

i guess they're editing it with the news.
My top question right now is who he might bring with him.
And..... LMAO at all the people that got bent out of shape over Beane just being in the discussion, you amused me greatly.
come one you knew that last part was coming from me.
He'll probably report that Brandon Beane was the second choice.
not realistic, but i'd take an abrams protoge. apparently he's been grooming people to do what he does every year.
I Approve and i hope he teaches his protege how to be like the Giants
I have my doubts.
Gettleman is a true "football guy". I'd expect that to be what he'd want in a successor.

spelled his name wrong too in the commentary
Off season broski.
Joe Person ended his article by saying that Beane was considered for the job. lol
To be fair, the purposelessness in whatever you post amuses the rest of us
if it doesn't smell right, it probably isn't.
twas the reason I had my fun with it.
Very true. Very true.
We also don't know what was talked about behind closed doors, I'm only speculating but who knows.
It's a great Hire regardless. Who ever he picks will be our heir and if he learns form this man, we'll have a good to great GM. At least one that knows how to manage a Cap.
The scenario I pondered was whether the Giants might offer Marc Ross a promotion because of his getting so many interviews. If they made him the Assistant GM and moved Abrams out, then I'd happily take Abrams as our cap guy.
but the age though....only downfall
I'm very pleased. LOL still with the Beane knob polishing. Get over it!
Doesn't matter at all. The guy is barely over 60.
What are you, 12?
Now all he's got to do is restrucuture some if our stars, cut Nakamura, get us under the cap, draft well, and then we'll be golden.
