Keys to Victory - Seahawks at Panthers
Oct 03 2012 07:04 AM | Zod in Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers Seattle Seahawks
After a much improved game against the Falcons, fans are wondering which Panthers team will show up on Sunday. I am not ready to give up on this 1-3 team But lets face it, Seattle is also 1-3 team. Lets not count their win against Greenbay and the worst officiating call in years. This is a very winnable game, here is how.
The Seahawks have a fantastic running back in Marshawn Lynch. Lynch is leading the league in rushing yards per game at 105. Throw in the fact that the Panthers run defense ranks 25th in the league will be trying to stop him and you can pretty much assume Marshawn will run for over 100 yards on Sunday..... but that's ok!
Lynch ran for 118 yards against St Louis, and lost the game 19-13. However, he only ran 20 times.
The Seahawks trailed the entire second half of the game. Once the Seahawks are playing from behind and forced to throw the ball, they put the game in the hands of their 5'10 rookie QB. (He is listed at 5'11 but that's being generous). That QB threw 3 picks last Sunday.
So this week the Panthers job is to make the Seahawks play from behind.
Seattle allows the second fewest points and yards in the NFL. YIkes,
Taking a closer look, their weakness appears to be stopping third down conversions, where they rank 24th in the league.
To win this game, the Panthers must put themselves in manageable 3rd down situations and do what they have not been good at so far this season, convert them. Firstly, this means play a perfect game in terms of penalties. Holding calls and false starts will definitely lose this game for us. Secondly, you are not going to go sideline to sideline on this group rushing the ball. They have the speed to shut down the option. Oh, and the wildcat? Tear it out of the playbook and burn it.
Play them straight up and win the battle in the trenches. A healthy Jonathan Stewart should be able to pick up some yards in this game. I don't expect Deangelo to do much against them unfortunately.
In short, the offense must take a slow methodical approach in this game. Field goals can beat this offensively inept Seahawks team, a big change from playing the Saints, Giants, and Falcons. There won't be many home run 20+ yard plays. Run the ball and complete underneath passes that the defense gives you. Yes, I know this goes completely against Chudzinski's philosophy, but I for one am hoping he will make this one game exception.

GO FOR IT WHEN THE FUGGIN GAME IS ON THE LINE!!!!!!!
i'm not really crazy about that at all but we really don't have a good record against backup or replacement QBs.
And if we didnt make that 4th &1, what would've been said. We put them on the one yard line. The odds were against the Falcons getting down field.
from rotoworld...
some of you have way too much faith in stopping a guy who's only goal is to not be stopped.
There wasn't. But if you don't make the converion, you would be giving them the ball near mid-field. If you punt they have to drive farther with less time. Hindsight is 20/20. Looking back on the result we souldve went for it. But if we would've went for it and didn't make it, everyone would be screaming we should've punted.
as if there are any running backs who have a goal of being stopped anyway.
Your saying our 6'5" QB cant get 1 yard? Quit playing the what if game...... When you need a win, the ball shouldnt be in the other teams hands.
point is, with that many carries he should have that many yards.
even with that...he's pretty much their whole offense. the damage he can do is minimal if the panthers offense is clicking and the defense shuts down at least wilson and the passing game and there is nothing scary about that passing game.
Week 2, "Jimmy Graham is going to be dunking on our goal post all day". Only did it once.
Week 3, everyone got burnt.
Week 4, "Julio Jones is gonna but rape Josh Norman's little anus LOL" Wrong.
Week 5, "Marshawn Lynch won't be stopped cuz it's his goal!"

Let Lynch get his just don't let anyone else beat you. Defense has to get turnovers in this game or it will be another long week for the huddle and the Fire Rivera list grows longer.
Very possible, unfortunately
They allow:
14.5 ppg (2nd)
275.8 ypg (2nd)
213 passing ypg (9th)
62.8 rushing ypg (2nd)
Luckily their offense is WELL BELOW average (bottom 5). Really all we need to do is stop Lynch and spy on Wilson a little bit. Easier said than done considering our run defense is the worst in the league imo.
Also I heard that Nakamura is starting :/ not sure how I feel about that.
The Seahawks have yet to face a QB like Newton.
P.S. Carolina's D had 7 sacks against a pretty good Falcon O line.

Wilson will probably have a breakout game here.
D-Line just needs to get their hands up, make it hard for him to see the passing lanes. If we don't get at least two picks sunday it will be a travesty.,
Lol look what they did to Rogers.
All it will take us for Cam to throw a pick and that's ball game.
I agree. Cam has got to take care of the ball in this game. I think it's honestly going to be a game of possessions. Got to stop Lynch, get pressure on Wilson, and we CANNOT turn the ball over.
