Kuechly may be the best defensive player on the team already.

I have seen some tempered enthusiasm on here about Kuechly, which I think is reasonable for a rookie. But I can't help thinking that if I am watching that game last night and not aware that Luke is a rookie, he was by far the best defensive player out there.

I don't think I have ever seen a more fluid and sure handed tackler. Nose for the ball, smart, great in coverage. I don't think we have seen anyone like him yet in a Panthers uniform. I know, thats saying a lot with guys like Sam Mills, Dan Morgan, Jon Beason, etc. But as far as the complete package goes, this kid has it all.

I get a football boner thinking about a Kuechly/Beason/Davis combo.

We may have a DROY on our hands here folks. It is a very real possibility.

Not sure about that. Much of that falls on the DL disruption.

In a JJ scheme LB'ers need to blitz.

Im just parotting what a draftnik on twitter was telling me.

I obviously know nothing about the draft at this point :/

Only problem with our LBers is none of them (starters) are exceptional blitzers.

Keuchly's blitzing ability isn't really known, he wasn't asked to do it in college. That doesn't mean that he can't. He has the tools to be a dominant blitzer for sure.

TD is an excellent blitzer too, and i can see them bringing him alot on third downs. line him up all over the place and let him get after the QB.

not sure he will ever be the type leader Beason is.....

But I think overall he will be the best LB on the team by the end of the season. Beason will be the leader but outside of hitting harder Luke at least projects a little better in all other aspects....I expect him to be that guy.

Kuchley is playing like a vet out there and he constantly say the game is so fast to him...cant wait to see it slow down for him.

the more i see kuechly play, the more i like him on the weakside. he allows beason to roam free from sideline to sideline knowing luke can clean up any mistakes he might make

MLB will be Luke's next year. Gives Luke even more room and ability to use his instincts to make plays. Beason needs to be used in more of a thumper role.

if beason is anywhere near his pre injury level by the end of this season i doubt we move him outside. luke has shown me he can play & have a impact inside or on the outside, so if it ain't broke then why fix it?

Well, Luke projects as a better MLB than Beason....if Luke reaches his potential it is ony a matter of when, not if he becomes the MLB.

As I said before when people were hating on the thought of drafting him......people would fall in love with this kid in preseason when forced to watch him. When he plays a full season.....people will get over the thought Beason is owed the MLB spot. Luke is a MLB. If he is what he projects.....he will do the job better than Beason.

Just want to add...If Thomas Davis can somehow get back to 2009 form before his injury, he would become our best defensive player

I still don't like that he does not have that killer mind set. I saw on one play where he had a chance to blow up the RB and he let up and the guy got an extra yard on the play. His nose for the ball is uncanny but he does not like to destroy players.

_{No doubt that Beason is the fire on the defense, the unquestioned leader when on the field. Luke seems more like the silent assassin. Quiet and unassuming, yet incredible awareness and savvy for seeing the gaps, anticipating the action, getting to the damn ball and wrapping up with the arms. Let's not forget the RB's who would make it to the second level last year kept bouncing off of shoulder shots from our secondary. This guy knows tackling fundamentals and that is refreshing.}

_{Beason is the fire and Luke is the ice. Seeing these two on the field together will be awesome. Get well Beast!}

Gross wasn't the best LT prospect to come out in a decade though......

I know what you mean, but his play will decrease his chances of getting hurt. As long as he can get to the ball we have plenty of other guys ready to do damage (Beason,Davis,Johnson,Hardy,Godfrey,Norman). I did see one nice lick he put on somebody wrapped up already.

He popped Greene several times. Not every tackle is a madden hit stick bro. He had 10 tackles in 1 half. No need to nit pick about him hitting harder. The thing about Luke once he gets his hands on the guy they go down almost every time. The play is over once he's there.
