Kuechly may be the best defensive player on the team already.
Aug 27 2012 06:59 AM | Zod in Carolina Panthers
I have seen some tempered enthusiasm on here about Kuechly, which I think is reasonable for a rookie. But I can't help thinking that if I am watching that game last night and not aware that Luke is a rookie, he was by far the best defensive player out there.
I don't think I have ever seen a more fluid and sure handed tackler. Nose for the ball, smart, great in coverage. I don't think we have seen anyone like him yet in a Panthers uniform. I know, thats saying a lot with guys like Sam Mills, Dan Morgan, Jon Beason, etc. But as far as the complete package goes, this kid has it all.
I get a football boner thinking about a Kuechly/Beason/Davis combo.
We may have a DROY on our hands here folks. It is a very real possibility.

Meh some just have it and some don't. Ray Lewis has been hitting people hard for years and he is no worse for ware. I'm not knocking the kid, he is going to make a whole lot of good plays and on goal line plays he has not given a inch so I'm not real worried.
No one said this is madden and I'm not your bro, bro. A better word would be he wrapped up green several times and if I were to nit pick I would say he also miss tackled Green twice.
10 tackles in a half. Get over it
Your the one that needs to get over it. I was just giving my opinion. Anywho moving on...
This is why Beast will be in the middle for atleast the next 3 years if healthy
Unbelievable.
He moves through traffic like a Barry Sanders LB monster.
That is what I like best about him. He knows how to tackle and very few players these days know how to bring a guy down instead of trying to make the big hit. He reminds me of a rugby tackler which think is a great thing.
Mine too. She also said The Golden Calf of Bristol was cute. Time for a new gf
Different styles. Luke will likely never lead in the manner Beason does.....
Beason's leadership isnt going to keep Luke from MLB if Luke turns out to be what he projects. I still don't think people realize how good Luke has the potential to be.....but will after this season.
Im bout to order mine, i was gonna wait till regular season but fug it. Now Im sure as hell he is gonna dominate this year.
That play alone shows us what we've got in Kuechly. Like this guy named Lombardi once said, "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." (and what you do afterwards)
Once cuts come around maybe we can finally get a decent safety...
LUKE IS A BEAST
He's like a liquid brick. Nearly every play I tried to locate Keuchly pre snap - he'd then disappear into a pile of linemen and be hanging onto the ball carrier a half second later.
For those bitching about him hitting big - he hits a hell of a lot harder than we realize. You gotta remember at 6-3 245 he's ALOT bigger than he looks and it one of the larger LBs in the league. When he gets some room to use his top speed on some pitches, screen or dump off passes your gonna see him level some people. you gotta remember when weaving through traffic like he did all game he really can't get more than one step of momentum - so he wraps up and tugs at the ball like he should.
He did a good job of it earlier in the pre-season and he's been picking Gross' brain about it in training camp too.
At BC he was simply asked to make every tackle - their DC didn't want to risk running him out of the play by blitzing him.
