Stephon Gilmore A True Option for Panthers
Apr 15 2012 04:59 PM | ClarkCam in Carolina Panthers
This corner is being seen more and more as a top 10 pick, and with the need at corner, and it being such a premium position in the NFL, he is a very likely candidate to be picked up at #9. I used to be a Coples guy, but with all the negative things coming out about him, with very little positive, I think Gilmore would be a solid contributor, while also being the safest pick. It would really help our sad secondary, and get us some takeaways. Here is a link citing how many analysts and teams talk about how they think he is top 10 material

I think the guy seems to have his head on straight, with some serious athletic ability.
It is also good to note, this guy is a returner as well. He helps us on multiple fronts. The more I read about this guy and watch him in games, the more I like him.

Apparently Gilmore isn't a stupid selection after all. Here is another good link concerning CB's

This is a premium position people that needs addressing
Hahaha I love how this is coming from a user named Gamecocksmitty. Obviously offended that his sub-par corner is being exposed as an overrated prospect.
And are you really going to judge some one based on where they live? That is one of the most ignorant things I've ever experienced on here. Please tell me what that explains, Cock.
Exposed by who? Everyone else says he is the second best corner in the draft and could possibly be off the board in the top 10. Only one saying this is you? Do you like to be different or something? Or is that he is a Gamecock and that rubs you the wrong way?
got straight ABUSED by the kid from ECU and man handled by Julio Jones not to mention the other numerous times he gives up big plays every year.
he has potential ALOT of potential but he also needs alot of work on technique and instinct imo
So we're supposed to just take your word for that, putting aside all the opinions of scouts, coaches, general managers, so on and so on and so on..
Yeah. Don't think I'm gonna do that.
That's just so weird. GIlmore;s stock stayed pretty consistent at the combine. It wasn't until the offseason progressed and more and more analysts and scouts began to look at the tape that his stock began to rise. Don't confuse the Huddle's ignorance of him early on in the offseason for his own ability.
Anyone who thinks that is either a die hard Cock fan or has know clue how to evaluate talent, and purely choose their favorite prospects based on the hottest name that they hear on the Huddle.
No. He would not be the best player at #12. He would be the best player at #40. But someone will be dumb enough to take him top 25.
I don't see many places where they say he is the 2nd best CB. But I don't grade players off others opinions anyways so I am not paying too much attention to that anyways. I feel pretty confident from what I have seen that he isn't the 2nd best CB.
I think a lot of people are considering him at 9 because he is a trendy pick. Where was all this talk at the beginning of the offseason, nothing has changed since then.
It's an opinion. Not only is it an opinion, it's an opinion largely based on other people's opinions.
I'm not saying if he is or not. I have not idea. I'm not even saying we should take him. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't base your pick on where you are in the draft position, but rather on who you think will best help your team when your turn comes.
