Greg Hardy was found guilty of assault against his girlfriend after 12 hours in a Charlotte courtroom Tuesday.

The judge told the court that Nicole Holder's testimony and injuries were consistent with abuse. Hardy was sentenced to 60 days suspended, meaning he will not serve the time in prison, as well as 18 months probation. He is to have no contact with Holder.
The defense did request an appeal for the Panthers defensive end.

The assault on a female and communicating threats charges stemmed from an altercation on May 13.

Hardy and Holder traded their accounts of that evening on the stand, offering essentially opposite stories. According to court documents, Hardy had been angry about her brief relationship with rapper Nelly after she and Hardy broke up. The two got into an argument that led to a physical altercation, the police report says.

On the stand Tuesday, Holder described a relationship that was “wonderful at first, but he became very controlling and manipulative,” she said.
