According to Schefter on Twitter.https://twitter.com/...491117126393856
That was his base salary. Also would have earned 100k as a workout bonus taking his salary to 3 million. Add in the prorated signing bonus of 1.4 million per year and the actual cap hit was 4.4 million. The cost to cut him was 4.2 million in dead money. We can split it over 2 years or take it all at once.
Is this just me?$7M bonus means $1.4M a year.3 years left on the contract:2013 base salary: $2.9MThat would mean we actually lose $1.5M against 2013 years cap?Even if the bonus is spread over 4 years it is a $600K loss? What am I missing?
so again i ask how much cap room does it saves us. but arent you the guy who said we were 8mil under when we were only under 3. something when olsen and kalil resturctured???
Never said that, and you don't have to take my word for it. Go read the cba or tweet Gantt or something.
He did have 1.4 x 3 left cap hit wise in signing bonus money. Thats 4.2 million total.(this is now dead money)He had a base salary of 2.9 million and a 100k workout bonus taking it to 3 million total in salary plus the 1.4 million in signing bonus allocation for a total of 4.4 million. So as an immediate hit it saves us $200k (4.4. cap hit - 4.2 dead money) or as a June 1st cut we can split the 4.2 over 2 years. If split evenly thats a savings of 2.1 million this year and 2.1 million dead next year.
i believe you did but i could be mistaken. i was just looking for the quick answer. so long story short if he is designated as a june 1st cut we save 2mil in cap space after june 1st and 200k now. is this correct?
Person says (tweets) that Anderson found out this morning when he was told to come in for a physical.
I bet he isn't a June 1 cut and this is just more of Gettleman fixing the "mess".
Next order of business:"Hello, Garry Williams? this is Dave Gettlemen...""Hello Jeff Hangartner? Dave Gettlemen here...."
Davis appears to be recovered, and I for one think Beasons injury's this season were overplayed as an excuse to put him on IR because he wasn't 100% from the Achilles yet.
So why the heck wouldn't we make him a June 1 cut if there is no cap savings for cutting him now?
I thought you could designate a limited number of early cuts as June 1st cuts. Is there something to suggest they did not do this?
I can understand it, take the lumps now and start fresh going forward. I like that we don't pay premiums for mediocrity anymore.
