Cam Newton and the UFC?

Although Cam Newton looks like a person who could dominate the UFC physically, he has chosen instead to invest in the up and coming mainstream sport.

Newton is one of 23 new owners according to reports.

“UFC officials confirmed to The Wall Street Journal on Thursday that 23 celebrities have invested in the world’s largest MMA promotion. Included are sports stars Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Maria Sharapova, and Serena and Venus Williams, actors Ben Affleck and Mark Wahlberg, musicians Adam Levine and LL Cool J, and talk show host Conan O’Brien.”

Considering the extreme growth the UFC has seen since its inception, this looks to be a smart investment for Cam as he looks to turn his contract money and endorsements into money making entities themselves. In an age where pro atheletes can become bankrupt just a few years after retirement, Newton’s money handling is a breath of fresh air.

This is the second unique investment we have heard about from Cam Newton, who also recently opened a food truck.

By all accounts, the shrimp po boy is divine. Give it a try.

Here is the video where Conan Obrien (himself a part owner) name drops Cam Newton as a part owner.
