Now the moment you have all been waiting for. My official 2018 Carolina Panthers mock draft has arrived. Each year I provide for you a three round mock draft that is 100% accurate except in cases where it is not. After running the numbers through the proprietary Huddle Algorithm© , I am confident in the following selections.
Spoiler alert warning: Continuing to read this article may greatly reduce your draft night fun. Now on to the picks…
Round 1 – Mike Hughes – Cornerback – UCF
Hughes will fall to the Carolina Panthers selection where he will be the best player available and also an immediate starter. Panthers GM Marty Hurney needs desperately to knock it out of the park with his first selection as Hurney 2.0. Hughes is the safest bet and will excel in the NFL. Hurney. Remember, there is precedence for Hurney going with a corner in the late first round with Chris Gamble. That turned out pretty darn good, and so will Hughes.
At this point many of you are wondering why no wide receiver at this pick. It is widely known that first round receivers struggle to contribute much of anything their first year as of late. This is enough to make Hurney shy away from the position. He absolutely must have a starter in round 1, and preferably at a skill position.
