I have attended quite a few Carolina Panthers rookie Camps. I can remember the first reps Deshaun Foster had. I remember how shifty Deangelo Williams looked. More recently, I noticed how Kelvin Benjamin appeared to be a man among boys. That is exactly what you want from a first round rookie in his first camp. A player that is obviously head and shoulders above the competition surrounding him.
Today, first round wide receiver DJ Moore passed that test with flying colors. He was obviously the best player on the field.
Moore showed the type of athleticism that pegged him as the first wide receiver taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers are banking on that athleticism contributing immediately to their offense.
On what was probably the most impressive play on either side of the ball, Moore glided to an under thrown ball on a comeback route and almost effortlessly cradled it in while keeping his feet in bounds. It was as impressive of a wide receiver play as I have ever seen in Carolina Panthers rookie camp.
Moore was used in a variety of ways, both on the outside and in the slot. Staying put and motioning before the snap. Moving around to keep the defense guessing. If this is any indication of what is to come, we can safely expect Moore to play a role similar to what Steve Smith did for the Carolina Panthers. Namely, everything possible to get the ball into his hands.
So far so good for the first round rookie. There is a very long way to go, but all indications so far point to Moore being up to the task.Agree? Disagree? You can sound off right here with thousands of Carolina Panthers fans.
