The Miami Dolphins take on the Carolina Panthers tonight in a preseason extravaganza that is sure to delight the senses. Although winning is not the real goal in a preseason game (coaches will never admit that), it is a good time to see just how the Panthers are improving as the actual season draws near. Here are three improvements I would love to see this evening.
Cam Newton did not have a bad game last week if you are looking only at the stat sheet. However, his completions were short passes in the flat for the most part. Newton was off early in the game when trying to complete those mid to long range throws. Tonight I would love to see the Carolina Panthers coming out gunning for the end zone. A long TD pass to DJ Moore would more than suffice.
The performance of Carolina Panthers corner Kevon Seymour last week called into serious question the depth at cornerback. He didn’t have a bad night, he had a dreadfully morbid night. Tonight I would like to see James Bradberry start opposite rookie Donte Jackson. Clearly, Jackson is the future at the position. The Panthers need to get him up to speed as quickly as possible and that starts this evening.
Finally, I would love to see pressure applied to the Dolphins quarterbacks from the base four unit. When the Carolina Panthers are able to dominate at the line and apply pressure without blitzing, great things happen. Keep an extra close eye on second year defensive end Daeshon Hall. He has come a long way since being drafted and now looks the part of a complete defensive end in the NFL.Agree? Disagree? You can sound off right here with thousands of Carolina Panthers fans.
