Well, it happened. The Carolina Panthers laid their annual egg, this time against the Washington Redskins. Last year, it was against the Chicago Bears. It seems this Ron Rivera led team is always good for a total implosions. Heck, even during the storied 2015 Superbowl year there was the ugly Atlanta game. It will be difficult to find any winners from this game. Losers on the other hand? I could throw a dart and hit one.
Carolina Panthers receiver Devin Funchess had one of his more impressive showings this season. Funchess hauled in five catches for seventy four yards and a touchdown. However, it was the manner in which he made those catches that impressed me the most. Funchess showed the size and strength in the end zone we all expect to see from him. Keep it up.
Quarterback Cam Newton finished the game with a respectable 93.2 passer rating. Considering the complete lack of a running game this is quite an accomplishment.
Rookie DJ Moore’s two fumbles were the biggest difference in the game. It is difficult to win away games in the NFL. It is darn near impossible to win away games with needless turnovers. Moore has shown great promise thus far this season. Let us hope Sunday’s terrible performance is a learning experience and he will be all the better for it. What we absolutely do not want is for Moore to lose confidence. He is far too talented for that.
Well, Ron Rivera finally made it to this list. The Carolina Panthers were completely unprepared to start the game against the Washington Redskins. That responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of the head coach. As I said previously, a total implosion is bound to happen every season. Why is that? Does every team experience the same phenomenon? I am really not sure of the answers here. What I am sure of is that Rivera cannot afford anymore of these types of games. He needs a winning record this season or else there could be changes on the horizon. David Tepper does not strike me as an owner that would be appreciative of his first season being a losing one.
And finally, Me. I predicted a Carolina Panthers victory yesterday. I’ll take this L and learn from it.Agree? Disagree? You can sound off right here with thousands of Carolina Panthers fans.
