After the crushing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers ten days ago, Carolina Panthers fans have lived with serious doubt about the potential of their team. It is one thing to lose a close game on the road. It is quite another to drop the worst defensive performance since 2000 in our laps. Digesting that foul game has been quite a chore.
So here we are, ready to see how this Carolina Panthers team bounces back. As such, for any faith to be restored we need a convincing victory against a bad Detroit Lions team who is missing key players to injury. Matt Stafford will be without wide receiver Marvin Jones today, making the job of the Carolina Panthers defensive secondary much easier.
Throw in the fact that the Panthers have had ten days to rest and plan for today’s match and it becomes even more clear the table could not be more properly set for a statement. There are no excuses for today’s game.
Losing today’s match would send the fan base in a downward spiral that I am not sure could be fixed. A close victory would stop the bleeding, but only temporarily. What we need from the Panthers is four quarters of playoff caliber football and a solid double digit win against an inferior opponent. Let’s hope that happens.Agree? Disagree?
