In the past two weeks the Carolina Panthers have been blown out by a good team and beaten by a bad team. The loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers was easy to shrug off. A short week, an away game, a strange defensive letdown of biblical proportions. Then cam the loss to the Detroit Lions. A bad team that just lost to the Chicago Bears’ backup quarterback.
Those losses make me want to take a closer look at some of the victories. Like the time it took a last minute prayer of an almost record breaking field goal to defeat the 3-7 NY Giants at home. Yikes.
Should we be worried? You bet your butt.
The Carolina Panthers must win today if they plan on staying in the playoff hunt. The Seattle Seahawks are on the rise, the Carolina Panthers on the decline. Both are hunting for a wildcard spot. A loss today would be a three game skid that likely could not be recovered from considering their schedule. The Carolina Panthers still need to play the New Orleans Saints twice. Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks get to enjoy three games against the lowly 49ers and Cardinals. A Merry Christmas for Seattle indeed.
So here we are, a must win game at home in late November. There is absolutely no reason the Carolina Panthers should not pull out a victory today. If they don’t, the playoffs become much less likely. If they do, they can pull together the late momentum needed to carry them through December.
Today’s game might as well be a home playoff game for the Panthers. If they lose, it is likely they only one Carolina will see in over a year.Agree? Disagree? You can sound off right here with thousands of Carolina Panthers fans.
