The Carolina Panthers were able to land their top prospect in round one of the draft. Now they have an opportunity to trade up and land another top prospect of theirs, even one they likely have a first round grade on.
On day two of the draft I suspect the Carolina Panthers are trying desperately to trade up and draft Mississippi offensive tackle Greg Little. The Panthers met with Little more than any other draft prospect in recent memory, kicking tires on the young mad that could be helping to protect Cam Newton this year. Most importantly, Little is a true left tackle. This would immediately pull into focus who will be protecting Newton’s blindside.
In fact, I suspect that Little could have been a first round selection for the Panthers if Brian Burns was off the board and Marty Hurney was able to trade back and acquire a few extra picks. The fact that Little is still available tells me Hurney, who has been known to trade up historically, is itching to move up and once again get his guy. If I was a betting man I would be going all in right now.
This would make the Carolina Panthers 2 for 2 in the first two rounds. They will have acquired two immediate starters at real positions of need. An edge rusher to pressure quarterbacks, and a left offensive tackle to protect our own. You really cannot ask for much more than that.Agree? Disagree?
