You have heard for weeks now that Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper would not be making any coaching decisions until the season is over. The local and national NFL media has been preaching no “reactionary” or “knee jerking” decisions per David Tepper’s own private press conference. That all sounded nice, but I never bought it. Not for a minute.
First, lets get one thing straight. Ron Rivera had three winning seasons out of nine. He did this with arguably the two best NFL players at the two most important positions on the field. Three out of nine. That ain’t good.
The Carolina Panthers franchise is in real danger of falling into a mind set of losing without accountability. Collecting paychecks and posting highlights on Instagram while the losses keep on coming. The Panthers started to resemble the Bengals, and who on earth would want that?
Firing Ron Rivera sends a direct message to not only the entire team, but to the entire organization. That message could not be more clear.
Start winning or start packing.
Today marks the day that the Carolina Panthers truly became David Tepper’s franchise. and it is about time. Let us hope those killer instincts that built his empire translate into the world of football.
It is a brand new day in Carolina. Rejoice and be glad.
