Now that the Carolina Panthers have been officially eliminated from the NFL playoffs, it is time to start thinking about the 2020 rebuild and the NFL Draft. After all, what happens on Sundays for the rest of the season can have a drastic effect on which young prospect the Carolina Panthers are able to draft.
So just how high can the Panthers go in the draft?
Picks 1 through 4 in the 2020 NFL Draft are pretty much spoken for. The Redskins, Giants, Bengals, and Dolphins own this real estate, although we are not sure in what order.
Picks 5 through 10 will go to a handful of less than mediocre teams, the Carolina Panthers being one of them. Their competition? The Falcons, Browns, Broncos, Chargers, and Jags. The good news here is that these teams still have winnable games on their schedule. With each victory they post, the Carolina Panthers get slightly closer to landing their next franchise player.
Should the Panthers lose out (which at this point looks like a very real possibility) and the stars align, they could move all the way up to pick 6 in the draft. That in itself sounds pretty amazing. But being at pick 6 also makes it possible to trade up into the top 3 should the Panthers decide a college quarterback (Joe Burrow) is worth that type of investment.
Realistically, the Carolina Panthers will be selecting somewhere around pick 7 or 8. Stay tuned for how this shakes out over the next three weeks.
