  1. He isn't comparing how they got to the point of leaving, he is saying what happens next maybe similar.
  2. This is true if Rhule and his new staff made the decision. Even then it would be informed by the GM and owners knowledge based on what they had seen in past seasons. Is it fair to say the messages about Cams recovery and availability didn't match up with the reality? My opinion? The person who made the decision about QB moving forward was Tepper. He made his decision based on Cam being injured for pretty much the entire duration of Tepper's tenure. He wanted a clean slate and was likely sick of this franchise being about Cam all the time when he was doing nothing to justify it. If that is so, the new coaching staff wouldn't have defied him.
  3. People here so easily triggered by the comparison. He's not saying they are similar as players or personalities, he's saying that their career trajectory and effectiveness after leaving maybe similar.
  4. Have to wonder if the guys who have high pressure rates from small schools were going against terrible opponents. That said, a guy from East Michigan got 10 sacks for the Raiders last year from the 3rd-4th end? I watched a couple of games with Uche and was impressed. Gipson also looked impressive at the senior bowl and would be a very late round pick.
  5. Behavioral scientist speaks. Its called abbreviation. Lofty concept I know.
  6. You're determined not to give him any credit, that's what bothers me- some fan. He was never meant to be Cam Newton and carry the franchise. If that's the standard you were holding an undrafted QB to, who had never had training camp reps with the first team, then I can't help you. Any reasonable person would accept that scoring 31 points against the division winner in their house in November coming from double digits behind twice deserves a little respect.
  7. Such dislike for KA. Anyone who dares speak up for the UDFA reserve QB should go follow another team because he wasn't as good as Cam? Just listen to yourself. Its kind of sad.
  8. November 2019 Kyle Allen 23/36 256 yards 3 TDs 0 ints Vs NO saints brought the team back from 14-0 down and 31-18 down. = not close to being a starting NFL QB. OK.
  9. True. But, we can still say that contracts have been poorly judged by whomever was giving them out. Funny to think that last year was our all-in year considering how bad they were.
  10. Unfortunately not. Kuechlys dead money next year is 7m. If you cut Short (likely) that's 11.5m. Paradis if he continues to be a liability is a 5.4 DM hit. Then there's Gano who had that horrific leg injury. Its one thing having a huge dead money hit in one season as you reshuffle but this is a testament to how badly the cap was managed.
  11. Tag and trade? If he had a good season. If he had a bad season you've lost nothing. I don't care what the optimists on here think, he's not going to be worth anything right now.
  12. I would argue he would garner a comp pick and if he put the team on his back as he has many times his trade value the following year would be significantly improved. They have almost no chance of getting anything for him in this scenario because of his recent history and Corona meaning he can't prove his fitness. Its a worse case scenario for everyone. I can only guess that a man like Tepper who made his fortune in handling assets, deeply dislikes Newton and wants rid of him at any cost.
  13. That's why you let him play out his contract which is cheap at the position. He would be motivated to prove his fitness earn a contract elsewhere. If Tepper doesn't like him and wanted to move on then at least cut him early. This method is disrespectful to the face of the franchise, gives him no chance to find a team and minimizes returns.
  14. I think you're missing the point. Bridgewater being on the team or not makes zero difference. Hell, Watson or even Mahomes being on this team wouldn't make them win. You're paying a guy 60 mill. I don't like him but he WILL make the team better along with CMC without ever coming close to contending. Why not use a guy already on the roster who costs nothing and doesn't effect comp picks? If he suceeds you have an asset. If he doesn't you get a top QB in the draft. The point is there is no apparent strategy. In truth whoever is QB1 is in for a tough year. I can't imagine why Bridgewater would dream of joining the Panthers right now.
  15. I don't see a clear strategy forming out of FA. I don't see them acquiring draft capital. They aren't fixing an area of the team. They aren't going with a young roster. I don't understand the strategy of signing Bridgewater and letting a cheaper better QB walk, when he's more than earned the right to leave on his terms. I don't understand why they are screwing themselves out of comp picks. I don't understand the Trai Turner trade. If you're blowing it up fine, but why are you keeping the RB who will be wasted on a bad team? I just want someone to tell me if they're tanking or trying to compete. Because I genuinely can't tell.
  16. I don't think they care. I mean they just want rid of Cam, as long as he's gone they don't care about getting anything back.. Gave away Trai Turner. Why would they care about comp picks? Its not like Gurney has ever picked a worthwhile player outside of round 1. VB had only contempt for this franchise. I'm glad he's gone.
  17. Bridgewater is bad. I'm not a Cam fan but he's waaaayyyyy better and cheaper. This also means they will get nothing back for him. Plus TB will die behind this line. Just a horrible FA move. If the plan is to lose play Kyle Allen.
  18. I hope he gets it. I liked GVR who had position flex and was constantly pooed on by the bitter folk of the huddle, who loved pooing on him because he wasn't the great Andrew Norwell. To pick up a guy for nothing who brings any kind of comp pick is a credit to how much better he did than he should have.
  19. Is that talking poo? Looks more like talking nonsense.
  20. I love super Mario. You can't argue with his sack numbers and sets the edge well too. We will be worse without him but we won't win with his help for the next couple of years. So I agree with @stbugs if you're not going to try to win, let him go with a thank you and take the comp pick. Clear up the cap and start afresh. The only guy I don't want to lose is Moton, our only solid OL.
  21. Yes, and Lloyd Cushenberry, Joe Brady might like that. I also like Onwenu from Michigan.
  22. Agree with Cam trade (if LA offered it). I just don't think anyone will offer it. To echo other people replacing a proven franchise QB on a cheap deal with an unproven injury prone guy who has never done anything but costs more just makes no sense. They need to maximise Cams trade value by letting him earn his next contract. I'm ok with Thomas but I don't think they will because that would be conceding that Little is a bust. Even though many fans think this, I bet MH doesn't. Gallimore is a rusher not a run defender, so I would be ok with giving him a miss. Igbin is an athlete first and foremost rather than a skilled CB. Not sure I want a second Donte Jackson. The last 4 I like especially where you are taking them late in the draft. So i guess i would draft the same positions but change the 1st and 2nd player picks.
  23. Sport is much more fun to follow when you don't take everything so personally. Cam is a millionaire, we don't need to pity him. Despite your egregious cheerleading on his behalf, it is highly doubtful that he cries himself to sleep every night worrying about the fans. What I find amusing is that many supposed fans are such dedicated Cam fan-boys that their concern that he may be replaced, manifested into a hatred of Kyle Allen (a mere placeholder, who was never going to be given the job) a UDFA who hadn't seen first team reps at training camp, who was good then bad, yet some seem to resent him because he wasn't able to lead us to a Superbowl. That's insanity. I need someone to explain to me why we should be upset with Kyle Allen for not being able to overcome the same problems that a much more talented former number 1 pick hasn't been able to overcome.
