    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I thought it was well done. I had heard rumors that Beth was going to die before they got there, and that Maggie was going to find her and have to put her down the second time. That would have been more brutal in ways, but the way they went with giving people false hope worked very well in my opinion. I don't think anyone mentionied it yet, but Beth had to die for Maggie's character to progress. If you think about it, Maggie has done little to nothing of note this entire season. They needed another rung on her character building ladder for what her character will be down the road. I kind of hoped the doctor came along with the group, but figured he'd feel more valuable/safe there. I loved the opening scene. Wiltshire Estates has been confirmed for the second half of the season. Not sure how the arc will play out compared to the comics, but it's in there. Glad to see Morgan catching up. He's still a month or so behind the group as far as I can tell, but obviously they'll eventually cross paths (hopefully.) Can't wait until February.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I thought this week's episode was okay. They are surely setting up for an action packed midseason finale. I'm curious to the Father Gabriel tangent. I'm guessing the walkers break out of the building at Gareth's campsite when FG is there and end up chasing him back to the church.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

People I think die before the completion of season 5 (even the second half)

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I think the point of the episode was to highlight how Daryl and Carol have overcame so much pre-apocalypse and post-apocalypse to be in the spot they are in, and that that is what makes them such good survivors in this world. Their resilience is their biggest asset. That is where the fire symbolism comes in. They are always surrounded by fire, but are never consumed by it. That is why it will be such a tragedy when the writers off one of them by the midseason finale! LOL (just kidding here...I haven't seen anything that indicates that will happen)

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I liked the Caryl episode. It does seem they kinda draw some scenes out for "cinematic" feel (IE how many scenes and minutes have we seen with people standing beside a window looking out and thinking about things?) but overall they are doing the best job they have in a long long time. Another thing I noticed that was also mentioned on Talking Dead that was interesting... There was lots of fire symbolism in this episode. I suppose it is fitting, given that the episode was entitled "Consumed." But there were like 10 instances, at least, of fire.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

IIRC in the comic, over the winter period they've had, the Walkers had a rough winter. They'd basically freeze up and not be able to move as easily. This made it incredibly easy to avoid and/or kill them. But they do thaw back out eventually... a little worse for the wear but still walking. Then they invade Westeros. Keep in mind, too, that every survivor that dies becomes a walker, so it would be a while before they were completely gone. Plus it could be a never-ending genetic thing which would mean they never go away with future generations.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I don't know about any more flashbacks. The only one even speculated that I've seen is for this week's episode, and it involves Carol back at the prison during the whole Karen/David burning thing. Not sure if it happens or not, but it has been speculated based on a couple frames in the promo for this week.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

Tyreese on TV has been totally destroyed as a character. Comic Tyreese was badass.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I liked it, and it went pretty much like I thought it would in the spoilers I posted a couple pages back. They are sticking to the comics pretty close this season, and it is amazing. In the comics, you get a little more depth in the explanation of Abraham's background. His wife and daughter were raped and his son was forced to watch it. He ends up pretty much turning one of the guys inside out in his rage and scares away his family. He finds them later. His wife and son are dead and his daughter has turned. He ends up having to shoot his own daughter in the face. Basically, Abraham is a PTSD case and it isn't because of his military background, but because of that experience in the world that the characters now call reality. The guy that plays Eugene on the show does a great job with how I imagined comic Eugene actually being. Basically super smart, but really weak and needing a group to survive. I loved the "I'm smarter than you" comment last night, and actually LOL'd a couple times during Eugene's dialogue. Overall, I liked this episode a lot, even though I kinda knew how it was going to play out. I enjoyed the dialogue, but I did feel some of the stuff could have been left out in order to advance other stories' timeframe. Next week will likely be a Carol/Daryl only episode. I will reflect on my earlier predictions and post an updated spoiler preview later.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

Another tidbit. The girl that played that chick that had her arm sawed off will be on this upcoming season of Game of Thrones as one of the Sand Snakes.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

OMG guys chill the hell out. You both have valid points. The show does throw out some mighty one dimensional villains and antagonistic plot arcs, but they have at least attempted to add some depth to them sometimes. I mean, some people could actually sympathize with the Governor and Gareth, because the show intentionally put things in there to humanize them a bit and kind of draw out reflection on their motives. They do the same thing with the protagonists, but they just do it better. The problem with the show is that they sometimes fail at making Rick and co's decisions look like they are in any way immoral. Therefore, we get an extreme utopian view of them being the "good guys" vs. whatever else is out there in the universe. That is what makes them also seem so one dimensional at times and makes dialogue or plot events come across as watered down or contrived. I'd love for the show to have more depth, but they have a huge cast of leads and only a 16 hour block to fill each season. I think, lately especially, they have done a wonderful job of making the best of what they have got. And, that is coming from someone who tended to be overly critical of past seasons. Ultimately, we're wanting realistic things from an unrealistic scenario in the first place. I mean, we're talking a zombie universe here. But, there can be parallels drawn to other dystopian scenarios. I think, for the most part, the show does an okay job illustrating the type of conflicts that would arise in such a world. Villains would tend to be one dimensional to an extent. A lot of this will be culled with the arrival of the best villain the comic series has seen.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

As far as Morgan, the only thing I have heard rumors about is that So, take that for what it is. I don't know whether I believe it or not. Personally, I think he will end back up with the group somehow, but I don't know if it will be before the midseason finale.

    Season 5: The Walking Dead

I thought it was a down episode in the midst of some pretty strong stuff so far, but I didn't hate it as bad as I hated the Daryl and Beth show. The lead cop is obviously pretty shell shocked and is pretty much what I think Shane would have eventually become had he stuck around through some of the stuff Rick has had to endure. I knew pretty much how most of the episode was going to play out, especially the key moments, as I shared them via spoiler tag earilier in the week. But, overall, I liked it okay. Emily Kinney is a pretty weak actress in my opinion, and I think the show this week paid the price for that. One thing that stood out to me that I am going to have to look into is the massive amounts of scenes last night with a clock somewhere in the picture. From Beth's "Get Well Soon" poster to the obvious ticking clock in her room, the entire episode didn't have very many scenes without a clock in it somewhere. I don't know if it was intentional or a coincidence. As far as further speculation (totally on my part based on some of the things I have seen and read from various places) goes for the pacing of the next 4 episodes...
