Manziel Not Impressing

Recommended Posts

looool I cannot wait to face this kid. I know our defense would KILL that kid if he tries some poo like that. anyone have any badass pics of our defense or luke, hardy, etc?

That's the thing, he better quickly develop as a pocket passer because he, at least from today's game, does not have the speed to elude defenders at this level. I don't hate him or love him so I don't really care...

I'd like to know what the bench was saying to him. I'm pretty sure the finger would be justified if we knew that. Besides, didn't know flipping the bird was such a deplorable act. There are far worse things on tv people love to eat up. You guys have hated him since college. Your opinions about him were set no matter what he is gonna do.

*sigh*... you're missing the point.

It's about the double standard set for  the Manziels, Bradys, and Ryans of the world as opposed to the Cams and RG3s when it comes to on and off the field actions.

You won't find a single national media member who would let the latter get away with an act like that yet here is a national media member openly defending what is a deplorable act on national television by one of the former.

No this is all about people like you not liking his character and using that as a guise to claim this kid can't play when he's shown nothing but the opposite. People like Mr. Scot are a prime example of this. His bias and many others like him see this getting raging boners to bash this kid because he isn't getting the same treatment others got to try to punish him but that's beyond childish and lame.

This character issue stuff is bullshit.

The way those two competing for the starting job played, I can't see why you wouldn't want to give Shaw more looks.

These are guys who are called passionate leaders of their team. The guy who just wears a towel over his head and moped cause he lost is the one who gets crucified.

Manziel is a wanna be. Hasn't even started a regular season game much less finished a season. Brady and Ryan at least have accomplished something.

Waaaah they intercepted my pass. I'm Johnny fuging Manziel they're not supposed to intercept me.

I disagree. I think it's the opposite. ESPN and the news in general can influence a viewer's perception of what is happening in the world (Fox vs. CNN vs. MSNBC, etc) so if they make Johnny Manziel out to be the lead story all the time, the public will react as though Johnny Manziel is themost important figure in the NFL at the moment.

In the old days it was that recognition of the power of the media that made it a priority to report fairly, but once news started becoming more about the entertainment value than the news itself, it became "what can we do to start a conversation to stay relevant in the ratings?"

It's not like ESPN has a responsibility to be bound by that integrity anyway. Nowhere in those initials does it say anything about "News."

but the point is that if no one wanted to watch manziel, ESPN wouldn't show it. They don't have some evil agenda against certain players or teams, they just want the most viewers.

This is all about confirmation bias. If you like Johnny this doesn't bother you. If you didn't like him to begin with you are going to jump all over him for this and anything else that he does.

We love when guys show emotion except for when it's someone or some emotion we don't like. Give this guy a break. If you don't like him don't watch him.

I can honestly say I don't really care whether a guy plays for my team, or is even my favorite player.

If he flips an opposing bench the bird (and just for trash talk no less, not like they tried to injure him) I'm gonna say that's immature.

Years and years of watching smith and you really have the nerve to say that? Smith punching players getting into fights trash talking and we all loved it and ate it up.

Now there is this kid Johnny who you haven't liked since he came into the national spot light who you have stated on this board won't be any good not because of his play but of his character long before he had even taken a snap in the nfl and you are all over this.

CONFORMATION BIAS. Stop it this is pathetic.

Actually we all didn't 'eat it up'.

Through his early years, I criticized Smith numerous times for immature behavior.  Heck, even in his later years I still considered him to be - and frequently referred to him as - a double edged sword.

I'm also not afraid to criticize Newton if he behaves badly.  But there's no need to because he generally doesn't.

Behaves badly? By whose standards? Yours? Are you the behavior police? Do you have rights or authority to tell other human beings with emotion who are playing an emotional game how to act?

Excuse me but I'd rather not watch a boring drone everyone act the same sport.

This sport is violent it's emotional and that's what makes it football.

Sick and tired of people like you trying to police the Johnny's the Sherman's the cams the Brady's the farves and the harbaughs out of the league because you don't like their emotion or don't like their character.

Next time keep your mouth shut and stop this little witch hunt you have over this kid it's quite annoying.
