Manziel Not Impressing

Recommended Posts

It's a football field it isn't church. If you've played any sport with atleast minimal level competition which judging by pictures I can tell you probably haven't you'd know when you are playing emotions run high.

The same emotions people love from their favorite players are the same people like scot don't want to see from players they don't like.

See sherman, Brady, farve, and even our cam. People don't want their favorite players to be happy when they lose but every cam detractor will hop all over him and cite pouting. It's the same in every case. Conformation bias.

What manziel did wasnt wrong or that big of a deal. It was a player showing emotion and using a gesture to jaw back at the opposing team. The majority in this thread made up their minds about him long before he stepped on the field. Which is really fuging pathetic.

What's really pathetic is that you're giving guys a pass because "THIS IS FUTBAWL, DAGUMIT."

You do know it's possible to play football with a little sense of decorum, right? If that wasn't the case, you'd have 30 teams running bounty programs. These are all guys making a nice living and the last thing they want to see is for that opportunity to be taken away from a fellow player.

I really don't see why this needs such vehement defense from you. It's not like Johnny just got kicked out of the league, but it probably cost him the starting job, because Hoyer is not one of those guys who is going to flip the bird walking away when things get bad.

This is football. This isn't cotillion class.

Yeah flipping off the opposing bench is the same as running a bounty program.

Decorum? Yeah I'll let you be the one to tell the kraken he has to say his please and thank you's before he can sack a qb. You literally have no idea what you are saying. Shut up

It's still a classless move regardless of how you justify it. Not a bounty program but the dude is not impervious to criticism from fans of the NFL.

He's terrible. He doesn't see wide open receivers. He prefers to run the ball himself for 3 yards as opposed to passing to a wide open WR for a minimum of 5 yards. He has no sense of playbook. He has no future. He is literally going to suffer a career ending injury.

Its a shame the Browns have such an easy ass schedule. If they happened to play the NFC west, he would literally get killed.

his play resembles old school Michael Vick with the falcons, except Vick was much better at finding receivers and had a much better arm. Not to mention Vick had/has blazing speed. Manziel is quick but he's not fast. Andrew Luck ran a faster 40 time than Manziel. Vick ran a 4.33 or something. Vick at 32 years old beat 25 year old McCoy last year in a race. RG3 is faster, quicker, and more athletic than Manziel can ever dream of being, and RG3's career is pretty much done.

Manziel will have some good games, some great games, but that style simply does not bring any significant success past winning a few national tv regular season games.

Preseason done.  He finished 6 of 17 tonight.

I mean, I'm trying to stay open-minded because everyone and their mother talks about this fig...but he just doesn't really do anything for me.  I wouldn't want him as my QB.  Hell, I'd take Bruce Gradkowski over him.

after watching the game last night on NFLN, it's clear he's more entertainment for the sports media folks than a seriously QB. Amazing the excuses that were made for his bad playing, while the same talking heads endlessly slam Hoyer. Can we say The Golden Calf of Bristol part Deux???

    • Employer dependent medical insurance ties employees to their employers and is most costly for startups, small businesses and the self employed.  Medicare allows workers to change jobs without fear of gaps in insurance coverage.  Lose your job, lose your employer for profit insurance.  Again, no worries with the M4A system.  M4A has no copay or chance of being cancelled due to long term illness either. Medicare is the most cost effective means of delivering healthcare coverage in the nation and has been for over 50 years. Medicare covers elderly and disabled Americans, demographics that typically require some of the most costly medical care. Medicare isn't a "crapshoot" it has a long history of success in this nation delivering healthcare for less cost. Bottom line:  Only one industrialized nation doesn't have some version of universal single payer healthcare and that is the USA.  Suggesting the USA is incapable of doing what all these other nations have been doing for generations is insulting.  The USA currently spends more per capita than any other nation on earth for healthcare while achieving the 37th best outcomes. The current system is broken and inordinately expensive, creating a financial drain on families, businesses and our nation's economy while simultaneously failing to provide coverage for tens of millions of Americans.  It is long past time to address this elephant in the room. https://morningconsult.com/2019/07/02/majority-backs-medicare-for-all-replacing-private-plans-if-preferred-providers-stay/
    • While I agree it is a huge loss for them regarding the perspective of the rest of the season, Mack wasn’t going to do dick against our tackles anyway. Our backup TE stonewalled him a couple of times. That’s the 2nd time we’ve played him and Armstead and Strief/Ramczyk has put him on a milk carton. The only teams he can feast on are teams with trash offensive lines or dumb coaches that can’t scheme to neutralize him.
    • Indeed, the Bears are in a VERY tight spot with Trubisky who’s looking like a massive Trubust, especially with what they gave up to get him AND what was on the board when they picked. There was one pass that Bridgewater tried that I did NOT like and was one I was terrified he’d try in a close game that would result in a boneheaded turnover. I don’t remember exactly when it was, but it was about a 20 yard pass to the end zone that he tried to fit between two Bears defenders and I groaned when I saw where it was going thinking it was an easy pick but thankfully it was dropped. And I agree, Brees definitely would’ve carved up that defense. At least 4 sacks in each game or total in both games? And Khalil Mack definitely does have a supporting cast like y’all considering they were a top-5 defense before today. WERE. And LMAO, what?! Um no. Absolutely not, I would not rather Poe or McCoy next to Jordan. That’s just a straight up homer comment right there, LOLOL. Why would we need McCoy or Poe? We’re not trying to get AARP memberships. Our defense is giving up fewer points/game, fewer yards/game, lower 3rd down conversion %, and a lower 4th down conversion %.  And that’s without even getting into the contracts. Here’s what y’all are paying McCoy and Poe... McCoy (31 years old) - $7.9M Poe (29 years old) - $9.3M Now here’s what we’re paying our starting tackles... Rankins (25 years old) - $4.07M Brown (25 years old) - $2.5M Y’all MASSIVELY overpaid for Poe, so bad that y’all likely going to cut him in the off season if he doesn’t take a pay cut or restructure his deal because there’s no way in hell y’all pay a 30 year old NT $13.3M next year. McCoy isn’t even under contract for next year and even if he is re-signed, both of y’all starting DT’s will be on the wrong side of 30 and grossly overpaid due to their names alone. Meanwhile, Rankins will be on his 5th year option (and more than likely extended) while Brown enters the 2nd year of his 3-year deal he signed in March and combined they’ll be making SLIGHTLY over what y’all have just Poe counting for next year (~$13.7M combined, $7.7M for Rankins’ option and $6M for Brown).  Y’all better get drafting and replenish with some cheap talent. LMAO, are you seriously clinging onto that Week 17 game last year that we had zero interest in? We had the #1 seed locked up already and had NOTHING to gain from that game. Getting out of that game without any injuries in preparation for the playoffs was the ONLY thought our mind and we accomplished that. Enjoy your token win, I bet it looks real nice next to the other two morale wins we gave y’all in 2006 and 2009 when we sat and rested our starters then too. Hahahaha.
