Jeremy Igo

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson

Recommended Posts

People also seem to forget that it took TD several years to develop into a starter-level player. And TD was, IMO, a much better football player with better natural instincts.

Whether you hate the pick or love it, really doesn't matter... He's probably going to be forced to start and play regardless.

Why won't you guys believe Gettleman when he says he will stick to his board.

I believe him. It'd just be nice to see him put some OTs on his board for a freaking change(and trade up to get one, if need be). Maybe he can resign Byron Bell.

He'll play a safety position while we are in Nickel.

A position which he's never played? A 1st rounder?

Forgive me if I'm not blossoming with joy.

We could of drafted a kicker in the first and the yes-men in here would have said it was a great pick

We are like the jets of the NFC. We have a ton of picks I don't understand why can't we use the first couple of picks on offense and the late picks on defense.

And too top it off the Colt get Dorsett. I never want to hear Cam get compared to any of these other QBs until this team commits to him

There are still plenty of WRs left guys

We pick at the end of the second round, who's going to be left? I'm betting we go defense again.

Like I've said...

Shaq will be weak side LB in 4-3 and the SS in nickel!

Love it!

and Green Bay is licking their chops at this. with players like Cobb, Beckham, Jackson, etc playing in the slot, i just do not see Thompson being able to stay in coverage vs them.

I think we'll see a lot of 4-2-5 with Thompson at SS sneaking up to play OLB sometimes

Yep. Good luck opposing offensive coordinators scheming against that.

It is exactly what Seattle has with Chancellor. His pick six against cam probably sealed shaq being our pick.

In DG I trust. Until he misses terribly on a 1st round pick, I will continue to trust his decisions. At the end of the day, he gets paid to do this, the rest of us just don't have anything better to do.

This was a super safe pick with tremendous upside.

Welcome to Charlotte Shaq!

Is that the same prick who gave us a C minus last year for picking 5 eventual starters out of 6 picks ?

Prisco is probably the worst national NFL beat writer in the business. He's also a writer, with no professional football scouting experience and probably retired as an athlete when he turned 15. His job isn't to provide scouting reports to NFL teams or advise management on who to draft. His job is to get you to read his article and click on his company's website.

Prisco is a moron and I rarely read his stuff. Even the so called "best" in the business like Peter King can still come across as a whiny ass from time to time. These guys are writers, not NFL management and their opinions should be taken as such, because most of the time they're wrong.

If people like Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and WFNZ fanboy Kevin Weidel were such great scouts and talent evaluaters - you better believe their asses would be working for an NFL team.

Lol! I'm in a bar in Milwaukee & have a bunch of Packer fans congratulating me on my team making a great pick. Meanwhile, on the Huddle...

I was reading the comments on the pre draft Shaq article. Alot of fans from alot of teams wanted Shaq in the first round! I trust Gettleman! And welcome Shaq!

I understand the frustration. But remember that most fans of every team in the NFL want them to draft WR. They are the exotic pick that people think will just turn the whole thing around.

I've made fun of the jets for years for drafting defensive players to their awesome defense while their offense cost them seasons but you just made me realize that we are them

Grab Fisher/Strong/Smith (Devin or Preston) in the 2nd, then Duke/Hardy/Flowers in the 3rd and I'm stoked.

but poo Roman had to play coverage, so it couldn't be any worse.

Gettleman will never commit to building around Cam. It's seriously like he's trying to sabotage his career.

    • Fact:  Joe Biden is a war criminal that has openly admitted he voted to give GWB authorization to go to war in Iraq knowing there were no WMD's to be found. Fact:  Joe Biden has MORE blood, death and destruction on his hands than his republican opponent. Fact:  If you really cared about NOT hurting people you wouldn't vote for either Joe Biden or Donald Trump.
    • Joe has waffled on a women's right to control her own body for the last 50 years.  He is in the pockets of corporate America and has voted for the two most conservative judges on the USSC in the last 50 years as well. All indications are Joe Biden doesn't have an issue with conservative judges, but that is not the primary concern here.  Joe Biden is in bed with corporate America.  There is no debate about it. Joe Biden promised to veto M4A. There is no rational argument to be made for Joe Biden and the dems to support a SCJ that favors workers over corporations.  NONE. Too many people like yourself get caught up on "D" and "R".  Those aren't the letters to be concerned about in a society that is controlled by a plutocracy. "C"orporate "M"oney and "P"ower are the only letters Joe, Nancy and Chuck care about.  That is why it is increasingly difficult to discern a "D" from an "R".  It is also increasingly less relevant in a nation ruled by plutocrats who own both parties.
    • I dropped out of my senior year of high school TWICE and got accepted to UNCG without even so much as a GED.  A&T told me to go fug myself and they were offering minority scholarships to white kids.   UNCG has got a top notch mental health counseling program but outside of that... sheeeeesh
