How about those RED SOX! Part Deux

Recommended Posts

I am having visions of Kinsler to 3B, Betts to 2B, and Chris Sale roaming RF.

Eovaldi better close this out

When the Sox had bases loaded and two outs in the 12th(?), the ball that caused the third out was clearly a foul. It hit behind the plate and rolled forward.

If no one touches it and it rolls fair before passing 1B/3B then it is a fair ball. That was sadly the correct call.

The home plate umpire however was suspicious to me.  I hate feeling that way but if someone were to make a chart on the pitches on the edge and outside the strike zone called balls and strikes then it would markedly favor the Dodgers in a concerning way. I am surprised nobody ever commented on some of the calls.  I really wish they would go to K zone calling balls and strikes already.

At least this game was not on a weeknight. Congrats Dodgers, see ya tonight

Can someone explain why the whole Bellinger play was not reviewed?  Is it not reviewable?  He was clearly out of the base line.

Congrats on the win. Dodgers have no chance with Roberts pulling the strings the way he is.

Congrats to the Red Sox. You out pitched, out fielded and out hit the Dodgers start to finish. But most importantly, you out managed the Dodgers. Props to Alex Cora.

It was great with Cora running things! He did a great job and had some luck too.

Unfortunately I had a looooong day at BofA and only managed to make it until 10PM or so before falling asleep, but I did get to see Price fully redeem himself which was great. Redsox web site has a cool little article where people are responding to the opening day tweets concerning Price and our loss to the Rays to start the year.

Not a bad sportsball day yesterday!

Also, Cora finally made a mistake.  No reason to pitch to Puig

Gotta disagree there. Puig was hitting .112 against lefty curveballs or some ridiculous number like that. The Sox had nothing but right hands in the pen and the numbers all pointed to pitching to the guy.

Dodgers bats did nothing except for the occasional blast, Puig's being one. The Dodgers hit .182 in the WS.

Oh, and Manny Machado is a bum.

The post you quoted was in reference to the Friday night/Saturday morning game.  Should have walked Puig with 1B open and had Eovaldi pitch to Barnes for final out with the tying run on second.

It was the right call to pitch to him on Saturday, E-Rod just got beat.
