Unless teams think you're just going to cut him anyway.
Mind you, I'm not buying into cut or trade scenarios. The only serious possibility I see for Newton not being a Panther next year is retirement.
But I do acknowledge there's a lot that can happen.
A David Tepper move would be hedge the risk, minimize cost and reload for the future.
Cam will be over 30 with an ever building injury history and with a hefty future price tag. If rumors of other NFL teams want him, then you could say the most nonattached decision is trade him and stay the course with KA after this season is over.
Cam is who got me on this board after years of lurking. I was excited for us to get him. I want the best for him but at the same time I had to get out of my system that Panthers are my team, not a player.
The goal is winning the SB. It does not matter who the coach is, the roster, etc just win baby.
I think it's a good question. However this plays out I wonder what his value is. Especially when you consider that Chase Daniel with a lifetime record of 2-3 as QB has earned over $24 million. If you had asked on here whether Allen was worth a 2nd round pick prior to the season you would have been laughed at.
