Several current University of Maryland football players and people close to the Terrapins program describe a toxic coaching culture under head coach D.J. Durkin before offensive lineman Jordan McNair's death in June after a football workout.

Last year, U of M president Wallace Loh went on record advocating the death penalty for UNC athletics due to the academic “scandal.”

UNC was exonerated by the NCAA several months later.

Since Loh’s statements - Maryland athletics have been linked to the massive college basketball probe receiving two subpoenas, and now the football program is under scrutiny for serious allegations of player mistreatment which may have contributed to the untimely death of a student athlete.

Wow. This is an example of why the smart institutions have kept their mouths shut regarding the “scandal” at UNC. Glass houses.

So the board of regents at UMD forced the chancellor to reinstate Durkin yesterday.  Today after facing tremendous backlash, the decision was reversed.  Glad to see leaving the ACC fixed all of UMD's problems.
