Where is McCaffrey's touted explosiveness?

Recommended Posts

Going into that draft Curtis Samuel and Alvin Kamara were said to be the poor man's version of CMC, but they've been showing tons of explosiveness while Christian has just looked like a steady reliable hand, but with not a lot of big play making ability.

He’s on pace for 1700+ YFS.  Name the last Panthers player to come close to that.

Thought this was a joke until I read it...

You can’t possibly be serious, DC’s game plan specifically to stop him because they know he can break one at any time. But hey, he’s trash so get rid of him

One thing you have to factor in is supporting cast. Samuel is able to make that explosive TD run because defenses are keying in on McCaffrey. When a defense loses sight of him, you see the 20 yard run and catch he had on the final drive. I doubt Kamara would get explosive plays every week if he didn't have Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn, etc. for defenses to focus on.

You are not allowed to criticize CMC on this board. Explosiveness? CMC is the best route runner, best hands, and has good vision. We were running similar plays with Fozzy and JStew where fozzy would catch swing passes, the difference this year is that Norv forced Cams hand to check down to CMC. CMC is unarguable running routes out the backfield. We have yet to see a CMC rushing TD this year. However you cant point that out because you will be deemed a hater. =)

He's fine for a 3 yard catch or run, but he really hardly ever makes a really big play.

What is your definition of a big play? The touchdown run against the Saints to put us in a position to come back in the playoffs was big. His 184 yard game against Cincy was riddled with big plays. His 14 reception game was big. His run to the goal line was explosive yesterday. Several of his runs were actually pretty explosive yesterday include a couple 5+ yard gains.
