You want to contend again, right?

I have no trouble hoping for the best. Expecting it is another story.

As to trusting Tepper, I need a reason to do so. The lack of a reason not to isn't good enough, plus keeping a losing leadership team is a reason not to.

I'm not expecting anything, we'll see what we see.

That's where we differ I don't necessarily need a reason TO trust him, especially with someone of Tepper's business acumen making his first moves as a owner in the NFL I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Like I said, I can hang one more year, we tank and its another miss the playoffs sub .500 season and he keeps them again....yeah then I have some concerns amigo.

But not yet.

If Tepper trust him for now then I'm going to trust Tepper.

I'm sure people were saying the same about Richardson. If the past few years of this organization has taught anything it has taught to not blindly trust the owners.

When the other moves come, I will feel a little better.   I believe in using the best player and I don't think Shaq is going to cut it.

Captain and Adams are still on the roster at this point.

Makes me wonder if there’s another coach Tepper can’t have this year so he rolled with rivera for another year and will make the change then?

we will have 100 million in Cap for 2020, and assuming Cam isn’t back next year, another year of suck and high draft picks—

much more friendly to a new coach.

Letting TD walk signifies the changing of the guard. It also signifies this team is finally willing to do what is necessary to quickly become a contender again.

The bad news: The old look Panthers are no longer a serious contender for the Superbowl.

The good news: This new look Panthers could be a contender very quickly.

The Panthers desperately need to get younger, espescially on defense. Everyone loves to complain about how gassed the defense looks all the time. The remedy is finding talented young players who are hungry. You can't do that if you have players in their mid 30s still starting.

TD, Peppers, Adams will be gone.

Shaq will have a year to prove his worth. The Panthers need to really see what he is capable of before they extend him.

Munnerlyn is only 30 but plays in his mid 30s. Panthers can save a couple million if they release him. I suspect that will happen.

This is more than just a roster move. It is a psychological move signifying to up and coming players that real competition will exist on this team.

Younger players will see these positions as job openings. The result will be increased competition resulting in defensive play we can be proud of.

I'm a TD fan, but I am a Panthers fan first and it isn't close. This move and moves to come are completely necessary if we hope to contend again anytime soon.

When they're done they're done...

Hate to see TD go, but it was time. Remember we started the season 3-1 without him.

And technically finished the season 1-7 with him, if you wanna go that route.

    • With Tepper focusing on the Panthers full time it is likely he will be more involved not less involved in daily activities. Now whether that means getting more involved in football decisions or leaving it to the "football people" remains to be seen. But to expect someone to.pay 2.2 billion for a business and then not be involved in ever aspect of the business seems pretty unrealistic. And as a previous minority owner he has lots of experience being associated with football guys and decisions.
    • As long as he lets his football people deal with football operations that's great. We don't want to get into a Jerry Jones situation though.
    • Yeah the problem with our "education" lottery is that the state decided to use the lottery revenues not as additional funds but as a replacement for tax dollars previously earmarked for education. The lottery would have been a great boost to the education system in NC, however the legislators did exactly what they said they would not do, and used it as a replacement instead.  Actually the strip is arguably more depressing than the rest of Vegas. It's an urban area, so there are obviously some downtrodden places, especially since they were one of the hardest hit areas after the housing crisis. But there are DEFINITIVELY a lot of very nice areas outside the strip. Go to North Vegas or old downtown. It's like any other city, plenty of great food and lots of things to do. And, yes, I have been there. The negatives about gambling are the same negatives that will exist regardless of the legality. The fact is that some people will go broke and get addicted to gambling, whether legal or not. Just because some people lack self control should not condemn some pretty harmless entertainment. As I said earlier, make sure there are ample safety nets in place to assist gambling addicts and you deal with that issue in that manner. There would be plenty of revenue to fund that. Heck, make it a requirement that each institution has to give a percentage to such services. I would be fine with that, as well.
