REPORT: Eric Washington will remain as D-coordinator

Recommended Posts

There’s so much displeasure these days, I really don’t get it. I feel like the organization is just trolling us honestly.

The way we crumbled against NYG, the way Pittsburgh handled us and the ensuing 6 weeks after. It taking Rivera 12 weeks too late to take playcalling duties( I think the DTs in cvg should’ve been the final straw for Washington calling plays), then falling right out of playoff contention just to beat that cardboard “saints” team to mess up draft picks. Making an instant decision on TD, while there are guys who clearly don’t belong here; staying. Cams shoulder .. crickets. No news or updates. Either say he needs the surgery or not, why pussyfoot around the subject? Bringing in pagano and ultimately keeping the crud we have. I really do always try to look positive.. but , Jesus, panthers brass. Let’s do SOMETHING to make us excited.

This all goes back to Andy Reid. Here's what Ron said in November:

Quote

I remember asking Andy, ‘You know, you never fire anybody. Why?’ He said, ‘Ron, two things. First of all, I hired you. If I think something’s not going well, I’m gonna work with you, I’m gonna train you and give you every opportunity to succeed. If I don’t do that, it’s on me, it’s my fault.’

And you're a dumbass for continuing to defend this sorry coaching staff and management after what we've seen the past 8 years. Typical people like you who can't think for themselves is why this franchise doesn't make changes. Because they know they can dupe idiots like you every year into thinking it will "change". It gets old after 20 years. We want results now, no more status quo.

The bold shows you don't know me, nor anything else.  You lie to yourself so much you believe anything.

You keep on being the blind fool you are, but don't make assumptions of others you know nothing about.

Anyone who knows me would never describe me that way you have. But you're a mr know it all on the internet!!!

 Go the fug away.

I find it hilarious that you think holding your breath and stomping your feet like a toddler is going to do anything.

Ron is the DC and calls plays and schemes. Washington does the scut work with the players and carry's out the game plan. So what if Rivera is mentoring Washington and "protecting him". It made Rivera call the plays and I for one,  think that is the best place for him. Norv does the offense and Rivera does the defense. Bring in another ex-head coach as secondary coach if we can find them, and we got 3 head coaches in key positions. One of Ron"s regrets early on was not having an ex-head coach in a coordinator role to consult. Now he would have 2.

Honestly I want to see Rivera call plays for the defense for a whole season. What DC comes here if he can't call plays with so many openings.

There's a decent argument to be made that moving Washington back to defensive line duties is in the best interest of the team.

Truthfully, I think this has to do with what's in the best interest of Eric Washington as much as anything, but it still can benefit the team even if that isn't the primary motive.

If we're being honest, I'm actually more skeptical about Ron Rivera doing double duty than I am about Washington coaching the defensive line.

Back in the early 2000's, Auburn's head coach was Tommy Tuberville.

His team's were known for great defenses, but were pretty damn basic and boring on offense (sound familiar)?

His first OC eventually wore thin with the Auburn fans as well as with the Auburn boosters who paid the bills, so Tuberville replaced him with his buddy, OL coach Hugh Nall.

With even more and greater talent, the Nall offense was even worse.  Defense was amazing and kept us in games, but Auburn in those years (up to 2003) waded in mediocrity (or worse) on offense.

So after 2003, Tuberville demoted his buddy (did NOT fire him though, which is key) and brought a new fresh set of eyes from outside to be the OC.  Was this new offense amazing in new trends and plays that no-one had ever seen before?  No... no it wasn't.  But it was run by a guy (Al Borges) with a better sense of play-calling and a better knowledge of how to use the weapons provided to him (at that time that was three future 1st round draft choices: Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Jason Campbell).  Auburn went 13-0 in his first season as OC.

So what happened to the demoted buddy, Hugh Nall?  He continued to be an embittered "oh I was treated so unfairly so I'm gonna fug the world" asshole for the rest of Tommy Tuberville's tenure at Auburn and, in the end, was a key factor to Tuberville losing his job.  Nall (as the OL coach after demotion) was never cooperative or friendly with any future OC placed over him.

This was not a surprise.  This was (unfortunately) HUMAN NATURE.

Human nature will not ignore Ron Rivera's idiotic coaching moves and re-arrangements either.  I've seen this tragic movie before.

No, but not buying anymore tickets or merch definitely will. Start hurting their pockets and they will start becoming serious about winning. But that will never happen because sadly this fanbase has a lot of apologists like you that supports this franchise no matter what and will continue attending games even though they will throw out the same mediocre crap as long as Rivera and Hurney are here.

Strong words, will you back them up?

Do you buy tickets to Panthers games?  If so, and given your strong feelings, will you be "duped" into paying for them again in 2019?  Will you take your money away from the team in an effort to force them to "make changes"?  Give the lack of "change", will you allow yourself to be "duped" into watching the team on TV?

My suspicion is you cannot stay away......you will continue enable by association, and continue to be "duped".

JMO.

Being uninterested in throwing money at this team is not some silly thing, it's people not bought in and completely understandable from my view.   I'm not dropping a few hundred on stubhub for a few tickets for this crap, why should anyone after the guac-in-the-trash they trotted out those last 8 games.

Someone needs to justify a reason to fork over any money in favor of this team.  The only reasons they have are the guys like Cam, who they leaving high and dry time and again, never truly supporting the dude.

RR called the last 5 games of this year.  We had one good showing on defense out of 5.

I’m not sold on Ron making much difference any longer.  And retaining Washington should be exactly why he’s unemployed after next year  Ron’s not willing to make the hard decisions & we are destined for mediocrity
